All-compassing Spirit, God and helper of all the world, hasten and direct my heart, to begin with understanding and to end with good works inspired by Thy holy books, where steadfast are the fiery twitches, which now I wish to speak, unworthy as I am: understand.

Thou Who art my Teacher and Guide, I humbly beseech Thee of Thy mercy to enlighten me in mine own ignorance, and to grant me help from Thee. Lord, direct me and strengthen my heart, not by the voice of harsh rebuke, but by the understanding of the meaning spoken, that I may be glad and prepare myself for the doing of good works. Teach me, and I say:

May we be made partakers of good works, on the judgment seats receiving thy mercies, with all thy chosen ones. And now, Blessed Lord, having drawn near from my heart, and by tongue I will sing, saying thus:

Come, let us bow down in worship to our God.

Come, let us bow down and prostrate ourselves before the King our God.

Come, let us bow down and prostrate ourselves before the King, our Jesus Christ, and before God.

Therefore, let him stand thus little, until all the senses are quieted: then let him begin to do this not quickly, without diligence, with compunction of heart and humbled spirit. Say this: Blessed is the man: quiet and wise, with attention, and not hasting, as though to understand by his own understanding the words spoken.
