In Thee, O Lord, have I trusted, that I may never be ashamed: by Thy righteousness deliver me and redeem me. Incline Your ear to me, hasten to take me away, make me a Protector God and a house of refuge to save me. For You are my power and my refuge, and for Your name’s sake guide me and nourish me. Deliver me from the net of sowing, even hiding from me that You are my Protector, Lord. In Your hand I will offer my spirit: You have delivered me, O Lord God of truth. You have hated those who keep vanities in vain: but I have trusted in the Lord. I will rejoice and rejoice in Your mercy, for You have looked upon my humility, You have saved my soul from need, and You have shut me up in the hands of the enemy, You have placed me in space my nose. Have mercy on me, Lord, as I grieve: my eye, my soul and my womb are troubled by rage. As if my life disappeared in illness and my life in sighs, my strength was weakened by poverty and my bones were crushed. From all my enemies there was reproach, and from my neighbors great, and fear from those I know: those who see me flee from me.

I was forgotten as if I were dead from the heart, I was like a destroyed vessel. Because I heard the fortune telling of many who lived around me, they would sometimes gather together against me and receive my soul in council. I trusted in You, Lord, and said: You are my God. My lots are in Your hand: deliver me from the hand of my enemies and from those who persecute me. Make Thy face shine upon Thy servant, save me by Thy mercy. Lord, let me not be ashamed, because I called Thee: let them be ashamed of wickedness and go down to hell. Let there be mute flattering lips, speaking against the righteous with iniquity, pride and humiliation. Since You have hidden the great abundance of Your goodness, O Lord, from those who fear You, You have made them trust in You before the sons of men. Hide them in the secret of Your face from the rebellion of man, cover them with blood from the quarreling of tongues. Blessed is the Lord, for He has astonished His mercy in the city of enclosure. But I said in my frenzy: I am rejected from before Thy sight: for this reason Thou heardest the voice of my prayer, and at some time I cried out to Thee.

Love the Lord, all you who worship Him, for the Lord seeks the truth and rewards those who are excessively proud. Take courage, and let your heart be strong, all you who trust in the Lord. I have trusted in You, Lord, that I may never be put to shame. By Your righteousness deliver me from troubles and save me! Incline Your ear to me, hasten to deliver me; be my Protector, my refuge, accomplish my salvation! For You are my power and my stronghold! Instruct me and feed me with blessings in Your name! Deliver me from the snare that they have laid for me, for You are my Protector, O Lord! I commend my spirit into Your hands. You have delivered me, O Lord God of truth! You have hated those who are devoted to vain vanity; I trusted in the Lord. I will rejoice and rejoice in Your mercy, for You looked upon my humility, delivered my soul from troubles, and did not give me into the hands of my enemies, but brought me out into the open. Have mercy on me, Lord, for I am in sorrow; My eye, my soul and my womb were dimmed with grief. For my life melts away in illnesses, and my years pass in sighs. My strength failed in deprivation, and my bones shook.

I suffered reproaches from my enemies, and most of all from my neighbors; instilled fear in all who knew me; When they saw me, they ran away. I was forgotten and seemed to have died in their hearts; was like a broken vessel. For I heard the slander of many who lived around, when they gathered together and discussed how to pluck out my soul. And I, trusting in You, Lord, said: “You are my God! My lot is in Your hand. Deliver me from the hand of my enemies and my persecutors. Show the radiance of Your face to Your servant; save me by Your mercy!” Lord, let me not be ashamed that I called on You! Let the wicked be ashamed and go to hell! Let the wicked lips become numb, because with pride and contempt they accuse the righteous of iniquity! How much goodness You reserve, O Lord, for those who fear You, who trust in You in the face of the sons of men! You will hide them under the shadow of Your face from human rebellion, You will hide them in Your monastery from human strife. Blessed be the Lord, for He has wonderfully shown me His mercy, likening me to a walled city.

I said in a frenzy: “I am rejected from Your eyes!” And so You heard my prayer when I cried out to You. Love the Lord, His righteous ones, for the Lord demands truth and menacingly punishes those who show pride! Take courage, and let your hearts be strengthened, all you who trust in the Lord!

Psalm 31

Psalm to David, reason.
Psalm of David, for instruction, 31.

Blessed are those who abandoned lawlessness and who took refuge in sin. Blessed is the man, the Lord will not impute sin to him; there is flattery in his mouth. As if I were silent, my bones promised to call me all day. Like Thy hand is heavy on me day and night, I returned to passion when thorns struck me. I know my iniquity and my sin is not covered, reh: let me confess my iniquity to the Lord, and You have forsaken the wickedness of my heart. For this reason, every saint will pray to You at the time of need: otherwise in the flood of many waters they will not come close to him. You are my refuge from sorrow, holding me: my joy, deliver me from those who have bereaved me. I will admonish you and guide you on this path; when you go, I will fix My eyes on you. Do not be like a horse and a horse that has no understanding: you shall bind their jaws with bridles and bridles that do not come near you. The sinner has many wounds, but he who trusts in the Lord will receive mercy. Rejoice in the Lord, and rejoice in righteousness, and rejoice, with all good heart.

Blessed are those whose iniquities are forgiven and whose sins are forgiven. Blessed is the man to whom the Lord does not impute sin and in whose mouth there is no lie. When I kept silent about my sins, my bones grew weak, for I groaned all day. For day and night Thy hand was heavy upon me; and again I tasted torment when my conscience stung me like a thorn. But I knew my iniquity and did not hide my sin; I said, “I will confess my iniquity to the Lord,” and You forgave the wickedness of my heart. Therefore, every righteous person will pray to You at the favorable time, and many waters will not drown him. You are my refuge in the sorrow that has come over me! My joy, deliver me from those who surround me! “I, the Lord, will admonish you and guide you on this path, and you will walk along it; I will fix My eyes on you.” Do not be disobedient, like a horse and mule, devoid of reason! A man leads them with a bit and a bridle, so that they follow him. The sinner will be severely punished, but the one who trusts in the Lord will receive mercy. Rejoice in the Lord and rejoice, O righteous ones, and rejoice in uprightness of heart!

Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

After kathisma 4. Trisagion according to Our Father: Troparion, tone 7:

Visit my humble soul, Lord, / who has spent all her life in sins: / in the image of a harlot, accept me too, / and save me.
Visit my humble soul, O Lord, / which has wasted its whole life in sins; / just like the harlot, accept me too, / and save me.

Swimming through the abyss of this life, / I think about the abyss of my many evils, / and having no nourishment for my thoughts, / Petrov I proclaim to You the voice: / save me, O Christ, save me, O God, / like a Lover of Humanity.
Swimming across the abyss of this life, / I think about the abyss of my many evils, / and, having no pilot thoughts, / I turn to You in the words of Peter: / “Save me, Christ, save me, O God, / as a lover of mankind!”

Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. We will soon join the bride of Christ, / so that we will all hear the blessed voice of Christ our God: / come, you who love heavenly glory, / partakers of the formerly wise virgins, / having understood our candles by faith.
Glory: Soon we will enter Christ’s bridal chamber together, / having lit our lamps by faith; / let us all hear the blessed voice of Christ our God: / “Come, you who love heavenly glory, / who have become partakers of the wise virgins!”
