Not partaking of the passions thou didst abide in the Word of God,
clothing thy flesh with strength:
but by thy resolve from the passions of man,
thou becamest a passion for our salvation:
for thou alone art without passion and all-powerful.

Thou didst receive the mortal, and by corruption preserved thy body unsavorily, /
And thy life-giving and divine Spirit, not abandoned was in hell: /
But since thou hast risen from sleep, thou didst raise us up together.

If thou didst descend into the grave, O Life-giving One,
but didst shatter the strength of hell, Theotokos,

and didst give resurrection to all, as God,
unto those who glorify thee with faith and love.

Let the creation rejoice and blossom as a spring:
For Jesus Christ hath raised up from the dead.
Where thou art now, O death, our sorrow; we cry out.
Where thou wast, O hell, victory;
Hast cast down thee into the earth,
Exalting our horn, for thou art merciful.

Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men.
But bearing the bearer of all,

and thou seest upon the cross the trees exalted,
from the pit of the grave uplifting us.

Star shining with the rays of divinity from Jacob,
Enveloped in darkness:

With strength from Thee and Thy grace, I have laid this heartfelt song upon my heart:
But receive this, O Thou Who readeth,
granting Thy great light in return for Thy ineffable mercy,
from the unfading treasures, O God-encompassed One.

Having stood in the presence of God's glory,
in which the bodily word of the flesh is revealed,

Resurrection of the Dead is given to us now, O Theotokos, by thy unspeakable and unutterable hymn, O All-Holy: / For life, O Lord, hast Thou put on our flesh, enveloping all, / And thou hast broken the power of death.
