With the grace of thy blessedness, O Theotokos, having been vouchsafed to abide in a prophetic manner by the eyes of Avvakum, we proclaim thee with uplifted hearts, for our comfort and renewal.
He who thus went forth and was crucified, bearing a crown of thorns, wearing a purple robe, hanging upon the wood; He is this holy One, in our salvation and renovation.
Behold the people disobedient and ashamed: for his sake ye lifted up on the cross at the hands of Pilate and implored death, breaking the power by thyself, O God-blessed, and by thyself hast risen from the grave in godliness.
O Theotokos,
Tree of the two life: not that its fruit, deadly to man, thou didst taste, but the enjoyment of life present for those who sing to thee in peace.
And Irmos: The Rod from the Root of Jesse:
Iesu Xiriste, blekto budeščikh blagavľsět' avlěrsěj, grěkh naš proroliľsja eľjeť: i pokazav stranen put svojoju krovijo, v luchšiju i sověršennějiejiu vinde skiniyu, prteča naš vo staja.
O Theotokos,
Ancient debt thou hast besought, O All-Pure Virgin, for us who are thy offspring, that through the greater mercy of the new Adam. Having united thyself with a pure conception, O Pure-minded One, quickened by Thee, there came forth Jesus Christ, one in Thee and God.
And Irmos: By Thy Holy Spirit:
Hear the wonders of heaven, and let the earth be filled, as with the fingers of the Lord hath been stretched out to Adam fallen, God hath been called upon to be, and in her own helper she became mother, for our salvation and renewal.
We sing thy great and fearful mystery, O Lord, for the princes and powers bowing before Thee, upon which Thou didst descend as rain upon the earth, all praising Thee, singing for those who are singing to Thee.
Holy of Holies, all-hymning Theotokos, bearer of good tidings, and comforter of faithful ones, to thee we cry: pray for us, O Saviour and giver of life, Lord: through thee our salvation.
