Virmos:

By life alone we are saved,
And by death destroyed;
For our death was made alive in Thee,
And our life was made to die.

Through Thee, O Lord, we have been delivered,
And through Thy death, we have put off sin.
For Thou didst not leave us in Hades,
Nor didst Thou suffer corruption to befall Thee.

Thou wentest down to the realm of the dead
And on the third day didst rise again,
O Christ God, saving our souls by Thy glory.

With the grace of thy blessedness, O Lady, having been vouchsafed by the prophetical and clear-sighted Avvakum, with thine eyes, proclaim to us Jesus Christ, for our salvation and renewal.

Who is this Saviour who, having gone forth from the tomb, bears a crown of thorns upon His head, wearing a purple robe, hanging on the wood; He is indeed holy, for our salvation and for our renewal.

Behold the people disobedient and ashamed: for his sake ye lifted up on the cross at the hands of Pilate and implored death, breaking the strength thereof; and gloriously rising from the grave, O Lord, Thou wast manifested in mercy.

The Theotokos:

The tree of life and wisdom: for its fruit is not death-bearing to men from thee we have eaten, but the enjoyment of life present for those who sing to thee in salvation.

And Irmos: The Rod from the Root of Jesse:

Who is this adorned with the winepress, and hath the varied hue of the vine? Adorned as is God, adorned as is man, by the blood of his flesh turned pale; to him we sing: Glory be to thy power, O Lord.

Jesus Christ hath made the sinner's way to be blameworthy, having by His own blood revealed sin: and showing a strange path, He entered in with a more excellent and perfect covering, passing through our nature.

The Theotokos:

Ancient debt thou hast besought, O All-Pure Virgin, for us, that through the greater grace of the new Adam. Having united thyself with the pure conception of a wise and quickened flesh from Thee, Jesus Christ was born, One in Thy womb, O Lady.

And Irmos: By Thy Holy Spirit:

Hast heard the wonders of heaven, and didst imbue the earth, O Lord, by the finger of Thy power, Adam's fall was overcome; and Thou wast called the Mother of Thy Son, and Saviour of our race, for our salvation and renewal.

We sing thy great and fearful mystery, O Lord, for the most honorable angels have bowed their ranks, having descended as it were with a rain upon the rusno, singing to thee those who are singing our salvation.

Hallowed be Thy name, O All-praising Theotokos, and the peace of the faithful, and to Thee we pray as our Deliverer and Life-giver, O Lord: pray for us unto Him.
