O God, incline Thine ear to my prayer and despise not my supplication. Hear me, and answer me: I have sorrowed in my soul and been humbled because of the voice of the enemy and because of the oppression of sinners. For they have turned aside from me without law, and in wrath they have hated me. My heart is troubled within me, and fear of death has fallen upon me. Fear and trembling have come upon me, and darkness covered me. And I said: Who will give me wings like a dove, and comfort and rest; all these have fled away, running here and there. I thirsted for Thee, O Saviour, who deliverest me from weakness and from tempest. Thou didst drown the waters, and divide their tongues, for I saw lawlessness and rebellion in the city. Day and night it will dwell at my walls: lawlessness and toil are in its midst, and unrighteousness; and there is no escape from its thorns and guile. For though the enemy reproach me, I would endure him; and though the hater of me speak exceeding proudly, I would open myself to him. Thou, O my Lord, art indifferent, known to me: with whom thou didst enjoy a draught together in the house of God, walking in one mind. Let death come upon thee, and let the living go down into hell; for wickedness is in their dwellings, in their midst: I called to Thee, O God, and Thou didst hear me. Evening and morning and noon I will proclaim, and announce, and Thy voice shall be heard by me. By peace may my soul be delivered from those who draw near unto me; for many were with me. Hearkeneth the Lord, and He will humble him, even he that was proud before: for there is no change in them, for they have not feared God. Stretch forth Thine hand to receive recompense, Thou hast defiled Thy covenant. Divided from the wrath of His face, and drawing near their hearts: their words are softer than oil, yet are they sharp swords. Turn upon the Lord thy sorrow, and it shall be unto thee, not in the age of the righteous. Thou, O God, dost bring down him that is wearied with heat. Men of blood and deceit shall not live out their days: but I will trust in Thee.
