Troparion of prophecy, tone 6: We cannot praise Thee worthily, but we ask in prayer: do not destroy us with our iniquities, O merciful Lord.
Glory, and now: and we repeat the same.
Troparion of prophecy, tone 6: We cannot sing You worthily, but we ask in prayer: do not destroy us with our iniquities, O Peaceful and Easily Forgiving Lord!
Glory, even now: and we repeat the same troparion.

Reading the prophecies of Isaiah. [Isa.5:7-16.]
Thus says the Lord: The vineyard of the Lord of hosts is the house of Israel, and the man of Judah is a new garden, beloved: I waited, that he might create judgment; not true, but a cry. Woe to those who join house to house, and village to village, to those who draw near, so that they may take away something from their neighbor: food, dwell alone on the earth; for this was heard in the words of the Lord of hosts: though the houses be many, greatness and goodness shall be desolate, and there shall be no dwellers in them. Wherever ten oxen roar, he will create one pot, and he who sows six Artavas will create three measures. Woe to those who rise in the morning, and woe to those who chase strong drink, waiting for the evening: for I will burn the wine. They drink wine with harps and singers, and tambourines, and pipes, but they do not look at the works of the Lord, and they do not consider the work of His hand. For My people were taken captive because they did not lead the Lord, and there were many dead because of hunger and thirst for water.
And hell shall enlarge your soul, and open your mouth, and shall not cease: and glories, and greatness, and riches, and their destroyers shall come down, and rejoice in it. And the man will humble himself, and the man will be dishonored, and the high-looking eyes will be humbled. And the Lord of hosts will be exalted in judgment, and the Holy God will be glorified in righteousness.
Reading the prophecy of Isaiah [5:7–16]
Thus says the Lord: The vineyard of the Lord of hosts is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah are a new favorite garden. I expected justice from him, but he committed lawlessness, and gave birth not to justice, but to a cry. Woe to those who add house to house and add field to field in order to take something away from their neighbor. Will you really live alone on earth? For the Lord of hosts heard this: if there are many houses, then the big and beautiful ones will fall into desolation and there will be no inhabitants in them. Where ten pairs of oxen plow, one jar will be harvested, and he who sows six artabs will receive three from the field. Woe to those who, having risen in the morning, seek wine until late, for the wine will burn them. For they drink wine with the lyre and psalter, with tambourines and pipes, but do not look at the works of the Lord, and do not think about the works of His hands. But My people will become captives because they did not know the Lord, and many will be dead from hunger and lack of water. And hell enlarged its soul and opened its mouth wide, and the glorious, and the great, and the rich, and the destroyers of Jerusalem, and the one who rejoices in it, will descend there.
And the man will be humiliated, and the husband will be covered with shame, and the arrogant look will become humiliated. And the Lord of hosts will be exalted in justice, and in justice the Holy God will be glorified.
