1. After communion of the Holy Mysteries, immediately enter the recesses of your heart and, having worshiped the Lord there with reverent humility, mentally extend the following conversation to Him:
You see, my all-merciful Lord, how easily I fall into sins to my own detriment and what power the passion that fights me has over me, and how powerless I am to free myself from it. Help me and strengthen my powerless efforts, or even better, take my weapons and with them, instead of me, completely defeat this frantic enemy of mine.
After this, finally, turning to the Heavenly Father of our Lord Jesus Christ and ours, together with Him in these Mysteries, who descended into you with His good pleasure, and to the Holy Spirit, who by His grace aroused you and prepared you to receive the Body and Blood of the Lord and, upon receiving them, now abundantly overshadows you, worship this One God, glorified in the Holy Trinity and beneficial to us, and, Having given reverent thanks to Him for the great mercy towards you, at this moment revealed as a certain gift, offer an unshakable decision, readiness and impulses to fight your sin, in the hope of overcoming it with the power of the One Trinitarian God.
2. Oh, how wonderful is the gift of Holy Communion! The Almighty God has set His heart on me, His least creation! What do you want from me, O King of Glory? What do you expect from me, who is nothing more than dust and dust? I see well, my God, in the light of Your immeasurable love, that You have one desire for this, which most shows the lordship of Your love for me, namely, that You deign to give me all of Yourself for food and drink for no other reason than to take all of me into Yourself, not because You need me, but because I have an extreme need for You; for in this way You live in me, and I in You; and through this loving union I become like You Yourself - and I will say this in human terms: through the union of my earthly heart with Your heavenly heart, a single divine heart is created in me.
3. Almighty King of heaven and earth! Who created You to bring You into my unworthy heart, when I am damned, and poor, and blind, and naked? No one, of course, is like Your immeasurable love for me. O uncreated love! O sweetest love! What do you want from me, who have become impoverished in the end? Nothing, as I understand and see, except my love for You; nothing except that no other fire should burn on the altar of my heart except the fire of my love for You, which would consume every other love and every other desire except the desire to bring all of me to You as a burnt offering and into the stench of fragrance. You have never desired or sought anything else from me, and now You do not seek or desire anything else. Take heed, O Lord, now to the vows of my heart! I combine my desire with Your desire, and how You gave all of Yourself to me, and I surrender all of myself to You, that I may be wholly in You.
I know, Lord, that this cannot happen if there is not complete self-sacrifice in me, if any trace of self-love remains in me, if sympathy and disposition for any of my wills or thoughts, or for my self-indulgent customs are hidden in me; That’s why I want and strive from now on to resist myself in everything that my soul desires that is displeasing to You, and to force myself to do everything that is pleasing to You, even if everything in me and outside of me rebels against it. I myself am not able to succeed in this, but since from now on You are with me, I boldly hope that You Yourself will accomplish in me everything that is right. I strive and search, and may my heart be one with Your heart; and I hope that this will be done to me by Your grace. I strive and seek not to see or hear anything, not to think about anything and not to sympathize with anything, except for what Your will, determined by Your commandments, will lead and indicate, and I hope that this will be the action of Your power in me.
I strive and seek not to leave my attention from the heart in which You are, and there, constantly looking to You, to be warmed by the rays of light emanating from You; and I hope that this will be the touch and embrace of Your hands. I strive and search, so that from now on You will be my only light, strength and joy; and I hope that this will be Your saving influence on my inner being. This is what I pray for and will continue to pray unceasingly. O most merciful Lord! Be it for me, be it.
