My most merciful and all-merciful God, Lord Jesus Christ, for the sake of love you came down and became incarnate for many reasons, so that you would save everyone. And again, Savior, save me by grace, I pray to You. Even if you save me from works, there is no grace and a gift, but more than a duty. To her, abundant in generosity and ineffable in mercy. Believe in Me, you say, O my Christ, you will live and will not see death forever. Even if faith in You saves the desperate, behold, I believe, save me, for You are my God and Creator. Let faith instead of works be imputed to me, O my God, for you will not find works to justify me. But may my faith prevail instead of all, may it answer, may it justify me, may it show me to be a partaker of Your eternal glory. Let Satan not kidnap me, and boast to the Word that he has torn me away from Your hand and fence; but either I want, save me, or I don’t want, Christ my Savior, before I quickly, quickly, I perish: for you are my God from my mother’s womb. Grant me, O Lord, now to love Thee, as I have sometimes loved that same sin, and again to work for Thee without laziness, tediously, as I previously worked for the flattering Satan.
Most of all, I will serve You, my Lord and God Jesus Christ, all the days of my life, now and ever, and forever and ever. Amen.
Like you will save everyone - to save everyone. Packs - more. If only You had saved me from my deeds - if only You had saved me for my deeds. No, this is not. The idea of the prayer is based on the words of the apostle: The reward of the one who works is not imputed according to mercy, but according to duty. But to him who does not work, but believes in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted as righteousness (Rom. 4:4-5). Let us remember that generosity is generous mercy, compassion, mercy.
Believe in Me, you say, O my Christ, you will live and will not see death forever. The prayer directly points to the words of Christ Himself: I am the resurrection and the life; He who believes in Me, even if he dies, will live. And everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die (John 11:25-26). Compare also: Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life (John 5:24). This is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day (John 6:40). Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in Me has eternal life (John 6:47). Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever keeps My word will never see death (John 8:51).
