Grant, O Lord, that we may dwell in Thy tabernacle,

In thy quiet places, O Lord, where all thy holy ones do repose, repose also the soul of thy servant [or: thy handmaid], for thou alone art lover of mankind.

When Thou didst descend into the waters,
O Christ God,

Thou didst not leave Thy holiness even in the depths.
For Thou art without beginning or end,
the Life and the True Light,
who hast enlightened every creature.
Therefore, with Thine holy apostles we glorify Thee:
for Thou alone art holy;
Thou only lovest mankind;
Thou only art the Source of salvation.

If thou hast descended into the lower parts of the earth, O Immortal, yet didst thou destroy the power of hell with thy might, and didst rise again as Victor, O Jesus Christ, having foretold it to the myrrh-bearing women: Rejoice, and by thy Apostles give peace, and to them that fall uprise the Resurrection.

Mercy upon the asleep:
