Alas, my soul:

He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

Glory, and honour:alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, glory to Thee, O Lord, thrice.

And this troparion, tone 1:

Grant, O Lord, to Thy servant the gift of repentance,
that he may confess his transgressions and be healed by Thee.
For Thou art a Lover of mankind and hast mercy on all who turn to Thee.

With the spirits of the prophets who have fallen asleep, preserve the soul [and body] of thy servant [or servantess], granting him/her repose and keeping him/her in blessed life, where thou art loving towards mankind.

In thy quiet places, O Lord, where all thy holy ones rest,
O rest also the soul of thy servant [or: thy handmaid], for thou alone art lover of mankind.

Glory: Thou, O God, hast descended into hell, and by Thy preaching Thou hast loosed the bound of the imprisoned spirits; and Thou, O Lord, didst also deign to give rest unto the soul [and spirit] of Thy servant [and slave].

And now: Alone and unspotted pair, born of God without seed, pray to save our souls. [or: Thou who wast born without stain.]

When thou didst descend into the waters,
O Christ, and didst tread upon the fish of the sea;
thou didst overcome death by death,
and to the dead didst bring life and resurrection,
grant, O Life-giving Source, to us sinners repentance.

Glory to Thee.
Glory to Thee.
Glory to Thee.

With the holy rest, O Lord, repose the soul of Thy servant [and lady], where there is no sickness, nor sorrow, nor sighing, but life eternal.

Jehovah: Thou art alone, O Immortal, Creator and Fashioner of man, who wast created from the earth, and into the same earth shalt thou go, as Thou didst command me to be created, and saidst unto me: Since thou art of the earth, and into the earth thou goest, let us make a lamentation of an epitaph: Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia.

Most glorious Cherubim, and most renowned Seraphim, we magnify thy unflappable words of God's glory, O Theotokos, that gave birth thereto.

Therefore: Glory, and now: The Lord, have mercy. Blessed be.

By the prayers of our holy Mother, the Theotokos, O Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on us, Amen.

Everlasting is your memory, worthy fathers and brethren ours, ever remembered. Three times.

O Soul, in the depths Thou shalt be established, and the remembrance of Thee in generation and generation.

O Holy God, O Strong God, O Immortal God, have mercy upon us. [Three times.]

O Lord Jesus Christ, our God, for Thy precious and holy Name's sake, and for the sake of all Thy saints, have mercy upon us. Amen.

Jesus Christ is risen from the dead, trampling down death by death, and on those in the tombs bestowing life. [Three times.]

A troparion, tone 1:

O Lord, our God, Thy mercy is in the heavens;
Thou art exalted above all the earth.
Thou hast glorified man, O Lover of mankind,
And hast given him dominion over all things.

For Thou didst create him, and for Thee he was made;
Thou art his hope, and to Thee he shall return.
Grant, therefore, that we, Thy servants,
May walk in the way of righteousness,
That we may obtain the glory of Thy kingdom,
And be numbered among those who are saved.

With the spirits of the prophets who have fallen asleep, preserve the soul [and body] of thy servant [or servantess], granting him/her repose and keeping him/her in blessed life, where thou art loving toward mankind.

In thy holy dwellings, O Lord, where all thy saints repose, repose also the soul of thy servant [or: servant of thine], for thou alone art a lover of mankind.

Glory: Thou, O God, didst descend into hell, and by Thy own power thou didst release the bound; Thou, O Lord, didst also give rest to the soul of Thy servant [or: slave].

And now: Alone and unspotted is the Pair, born of God without seed, pray for our souls, O Theotokos. [or: Thou.]

When thou didst descend into the tomb, O Christ God,
in truth didst thou slumber, not in death;
that the corruption of death might be destroyed,
thou didst arise from the grave, trampling it underfoot.
Thou art the true life of the dead.

And having risen from the dead, thou didst open to us
the kingdom of heaven and the gate of paradise.
Thou art our Life, O Lord;
save us by thy cross.

With the holy rest, O Lord, repose the soul of Thy servant [and lady], where there is no sickness, nor sorrow, nor sighing, but life eternal.

If thou hast descended into the lower parts of the earth, O Immortal, yet didst thou shatter the power of hell with thy might, and didst rise again as Victor, O Jesus Christ, having foretold it to the myrrh-bearing women: Rejoice, and by thy Apostles give peace, and to the fallen ones give resurrection.

Mercy upon the asleep:

May the Lord rest the soul of Thy servant [and of Thy handmaid], and forgive him [her] all voluntary and involuntary sins, and grant him [her] heavenly worship.

I. Irmos, Tone 1:

Grant, O Lord, that we may receive with pure hearts Thy most holy mysteries,
That by partaking of the divine and life-giving sacraments,
We may be filled with the Holy Spirit and become partakers of Thy divine nature.
For Thou art the Life, and to Thee do we lift up our souls.

Therefore: Glory, and now: The Lord, have mercy. Blessed be.

By the prayers of our holy Fathers, Jesus Christ, O Soul, have mercy on us, amen.

Jesus Christ is risen from the dead, trampling down death by death, and on those in the tombs bestowing life. [Three times.]

And Thou hast granted us eternal life, bowing down to Thee on the three days of Thy Resurrection.

And we say to the Soul: Jesus Christ is risen.
