For thou wast a stranger and a sojourner upon the earth,
A prophet, a priest, and a king;
Thou didst suffer many ills for our salvation,
And by thy death didst destroy death itself.

If thou hast descended into the lower parts of the earth, O Immortal, yet didst thou destroy the power of hell with thy might, and didst rise again as Victor, O Jesus Christ, to the myrrh-bearers declaring: Rejoice, thou givest peace with thy Apostles, thou givest resurrection to them that fall.
