Wretched are we:

O Living in the help of Thy Highness, in the blood of Thee, O Heavenly One, Thou wilt be established, saith the Lord: "My helper and my stronghold, O God, my God, on Him will I hope." As He doth deliver thee from the snare of the hunter and from the violence of the tongue: With His wings He shall cover thee; under His wings thou shalt take refuge: Truth shall be thy shield and a defence ever. Fear not the terror by night, nor the arrow that flieth by day, nor the pestilence that walketh in darkness, nor the destruction that wasteth at noonday. Thou shalt tread upon the lion and the adder; thou shalt trample the serpent and the scorpion: Fear not, for I am with thee; I will keep thee from all evil. O Lord, Thou art my helper; the Angel of mine help shall guard thee in all thy ways. In Thy hands they shall take Thee, that Thou mayest not stumble on a stone of Thine own foot: On the asp and the basilisk thou shalt trample, and thou shalt pass over the lion and the dragon. For upon me Thou hast leaned; I have delivered thee, I will cover thee, for I know thee. He shall call to Me, and I will hear him: With Him am I in trouble, I will seek Him and praise Him: with length of days I will satisfy Him and show Him my salvation.

Glory, and honour:alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, glory to Thee, O God, thrice.

With the spirits of the prophets who have fallen asleep, preserve the soul [and body] of thy servant [or servantess], granting him/her repose and keeping him/her in blessed life, where thou art loving towards mankind.

In thy chambers, O Lord, where all thy holy ones do repose, repose also the soul of thy servant [or: servant of thine], for thou alone art lover of mankind.

Glory: Thou, O God, didst descend into hell, and with Thy mighty word thou didst release the bound; and Thou, O Lord, didst give rest to the soul [and spirit] of Thy servant [or slave].

And now: Alone and unspotted pair, born of God without seed, pray to save our souls. [and also: Thy.]

When thou didst descend into the waters,
O Christ God,
and didst tread upon the fish of the sea—
thou didst not leave thy glory even in hell.
For with the force of the cross thou didst conquer,
and by the power of thine own will
thou didst open the gates of paradise to the thief.
Thou art the true life of the world;
grant us also this grace, O Good One.

With the holy rest, O Lord, repose the soul of Thy servant [and: servant of Thine], where there is no sickness, nor sorrow, nor sighing, but life eternal.

Jesús: Thou art Alone, Immortal, Creator of man, earth-born and from earth created, and into the earth thou shalt go again, as Thou didst command me and saidst to me: Since earth thou art and unto earth thou goest, therefore make a lamentation of mourning psalm: Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia.

Most glorious Cherubim, and most renowned Seraphim, we magnify thy unflappable words of God's glory, O Theotokos, that gave birth thereto, being ever present in thee.

Therefore: Glory, and now: The Lord forgive, thrice. Blessed be.

By the prayers of our holy Mother, O Jesus Christ, God, have mercy on us, amen.

Everlasting is your memory, worthy fathers and brethren ours, ever in our thoughts. Three times.

O Soul, in the depths thou shalt be established, and the memory of Thee in generation and generation.

Holy God, Holy Strong, Holy Immortal, have mercy on us. [Three times.]

O Lord Jesus Christ, our God, for Thy precious and merciful intercession, and for all Thy saints, have mercy upon us. Amen.

Jesus Christ is risen from the dead, by death He hath trampled death, and on those in the tombs He hath bestowed life. [Three times.]

And now, O my Soul, a troparion, tone 1:

Grant, O Lord, that we may see Thy face and be filled with joy; for Thou art the Life, and Thou hast life in Thee, and Thou givest life to all. Amen.

Grant, O Lord, that we may see Thy face and be filled with joy; for Thou art the Life, and Thou hast life in Thee, and Thou givest life to all. Amen.

With the spirits of the prophets who have fallen asleep, preserve the soul [and body] of thy servant [or servantess], granting him/her repose and keeping him/her in blessed life, where he/she loves thee with loving-kindness.

In thy dwellings, O Lord, where all thy holy ones rest, rest thou also the soul of thy servant [or: servant of thine], for thou alone art lover of mankind.

Glory: Thou, O God, didst descend into hell, and with the bound thou didst rend asunder, Thyself also didst repose the soul [and: soul] of Thy servant [and: servant] in peace.

And now: Alone and unspotted pair, born of God without seed, pray to save our souls. [or: Thou who wast born without defilement.]

When thou, O Lord, didst descend into Hades,
Thou didst set the captives free from their prisons;
And by thy power didst make manifest to the angels
The mystery of the resurrection of the dead.
Therefore, with hymns and psalms we magnify thee:
O Christ our God, glory be to thee.

With the holy rest, O Lord, repose the soul of Thy servant [and: servant of Thine], where there is no sickness, nor sorrow, nor sighing, but life eternal.

If thou didst descend even into the lower parts of the earth, O Immortal, yet didst thou destroy the power of hell with thy might, and didst rise again as Victor, O Jesus Christ, having foretold it to the myrrh-bearing women: Rejoice, and by thy Apostles give peace, and to them that fall uprise the Resurrection.

Mercy upon the asleep:

May the Lord rest the soul of Thy servant [and of Thy handmaid], and forgive him [her] all voluntary and involuntary sins, and grant him [her] heavenly glory.

And we say to the Soul: Jesus Christ is risen.
