For Thou art the Life, and I am but a stranger in this world;
Thou art the Power, and I am but a creature made by Thee.
Grant that I may see Thee on high with Thyright hand,
And not be confounded before the Spectacle of Thy glory.
For I am nothing, O Lord, and my ways are vanity;
But Thou art ever merciful, and to Thee I come in humility.
Grant that I may know Thee as the Glory of all the earth,
And not perish in the loss of Thy righteousness.
For I am but a creature, and my life is but a breath;
But Thou art the Life Eternal, O Lord, and to Thee I cry:
Grant me Thy mercy, O Lord, for Thou art good,
And grant me Thy grace that I may be saved.
For I am nothing, and in Thee alone do I find hope.
