Reading the prophecies of Joel. [Chapter 3, Art. 12–21].

This is what the Lord says: let all the nations arise and go up to the valley of Jehoshaphat, for there I will sit to judge all the nations that are around. Put out the sickles, as the grapes are about to be encircled; tread, tread, as a winepress; A voice proclaimed in the valley of judgment, as if the day of the Lord was near in the valley of judgment. The sun and moon will darken, and the stars will hide their light. The Lord will call from Zion, and will give His voice from Jerusalem, and the heavens and the earth will shake: But the Lord will spare His people, and will strengthen the children of Israel. And you will know that the Lord is your God, who dwells in Zion in My holy mountain: and Jerusalem will be holy, and foreign women will not pass through it. And in that day the mountains will burn up the sweetness, and the hills will flow out with milk, and all the springs of Judah will issue out water, and a fountain will flow out from the house of the Lord and make the streams water. sitia [Heb.

sittim] Egypt will be in destruction, and Idumea will be in the field of destruction for the embitterment of the sons of Judah, because they shed righteous blood on their land. Judah will be inhabited forever, and Jerusalem for all generations. And I will require their blood and will not blame them: and the Lord will dwell in Zion.

Reading the prophecy of Joel [3:12–21]

Thus says the Lord: Let all the nations awaken and enter the valley of Jehoshaphat, for there I will sit to judge all the surrounding nations. Prepare your sickles, for the harvest is ripe and has come; go out and trample, because the winepress is full and the vats are overflowing, for their wickedness has increased. Voices are heard in the valley of judgment, for the day of the Lord is at hand in the valley of judgment. The sun and moon will be darkened, and the stars will hide their light. The Lord will shout from Zion and give His voice from Jerusalem, and heaven and earth will tremble, but the Lord will spare His people and the Lord will strengthen the children of Israel. And you will know that I am the Lord your God, who dwells in Zion, on My holy mountain, and Jerusalem will be holy, and foreigners will no longer pass through it. And it will come to pass in that day that the mountains will pour out sweetness, and the hills will pour out milk, and all the springs of Judah will pour out water, and a fountain will come out of the house of the Lord and water the valley of Shittim. Egypt will perish, and Idumea will be a lost field because of the oppression of the sons of Judah, because they shed righteous blood in their land. Judah will be inhabited forever, and Jerusalem will be inhabited forever.

And I will exact their blood and will not forgive it, and the Lord will dwell in Zion.

On the verse there is a day, voice 3:

The dawn of Lenten spring, the flower of repentance, let us cleanse our brethren from all filth, singing to the Light-Giver: glory to Thee, the only Lover of Mankind.

On the stichera there is a self-vocal stichera of the day, tone 3

The spring of Lent has come with the flowers of repentance: let us cleanse ourselves from all dirt, brothers, and let us sing to the Light-Giver: “Glory to Thee, the Only Lover of Mankind!”

(Δίς)

The verse with the verb: I brought you to you:

And we repeat, I agree.

We pronounce the verse: I have lifted up my eyes to You, who dwells in heaven. Behold, as the eyes of slaves are turned to the hands of their masters, as the eyes of a slave are turned to the hands of her mistress, so our eyes are turned to the Lord our God, until He has pity on us. (Ps. 122:1–2)

And we repeat, I agree.

The same verse: Lord have mercy on us: and martyred:

Thy martyrs, Lord, strengthened by faith, informed by hope, spiritually united by the love of Thy Cross, destroyed the enemy’s torment, and gained crowns with the disembodied pray for our souls.

Then the verse: Have mercy on us, O Lord, have mercy on us, for we are overflowing with contempt. Our soul is abundantly filled with reproach from the prosperous and contempt from the proud. (Ps 122:3–4)

And martyred:

Your martyrs, Lord, strengthened by faith, confirmed by hope and souls united in love for the Cross, destroyed the tyranny of the enemy and, having received crowns, intercede with the angels for our souls.
