Irimos:

By life alone we are saved,
And by death we perish;
For life is from Thee, O Lord,
And death Thou hast made for our fall.

Through Thee, O Life-giving One,
We have understanding of Thy will;
For Thou art the Way and the Truth,
And the Life, as saith the Scripture.

By Thee, O Life of all creation,
We are enlightened to know Thee;
For Thou art the Light that lighteth every man,
And Thou art in us, and we are in Thee.

God's commandment against the unjust condemnation of the martyr hath raised a high flame: Jesus Christ, however, spread His divine glory upon the innocent youth, blessed and highly praised.

Thou didst not endure to see man suffer death for thy sake, but didst come and save him by Thy blood: Thou art blessed, O Saviour, and highly praised be God the Father of our Lord.

Seeing Thee, O Lord, clothed in the garments of suffering, Thou didst astonish the gates of hell: for, O Master, Thou camest to slay the foolisher of the servant; and blessed and highly praised be God, our Father.

O Theotokos,

And He

Irimos:

Thou, O Lord, hast created man in Thine own image and after Thy likeness;
and Thou didst place him upon this earth to be a steward of all that is Thine.
But he fell away from Thee through the deceit of the serpent,
and became a stranger to Thee and a captive to sin.

Thou didst look down from on high, O Lord, and sawest man's fallen state;
therefore Thou didst send Thy only-begotten Son into this world,
that He might redeem us by His precious blood.
He came as the true Light, that shineth in darkness, and the darkness comprehendeth it not.

Let us therefore with compunction of heart give thanks to Thee, O Lord,
and cry unto Thee: Glory be to Thee, O Christ our God!

Overtaken by the Spirit, most understanding of the ancient ones: for with lips blessed God in spirit: Most glorious is our Father and King.

Judge the ancient prophet who in the eating of food heard: but by His will was judged, releasing from transgression the transgressor, the ever-blessed Father God, and highly praised.

With the tongue of envy, O Soul of the murderer, in free utterance: freely didst thou heal, O Most Holy Father, and art glorified.

Wandering in the chambers of mortality, Thou didst call me to the light, O dark Adversary, by Thy blinding glory, O Most Holy Father of God, and most glorified.

And Thee, O Lord.

This hymn to Thee also.

In the night SAW Jacob, as by revelation of God Incarnate, and shone upon him with light those singing: Most High Father of God, and highly praised.

Known are the tokens wherein in thee not spoken manifestation of the unspeakable revelation doth appear, as with Jacob doth wrestle: by thy will art thou united with man reading: O Most High Father God, and highly glorified.

Loathsome is he who doth not preach Thy double-edged Sword, the One from Whom proceedeth the Triune God with unshakeable faith, and by His tongue crieth: Eternal Father of God, and highly praised.
