When the All-holy Theotokos appeared in the temple of the Lord,
She brought forth the Life, Who is greater than the heavens and deeper than the abyss.
Always by her power, the world was upheld;
Suddenly, she gave birth to Him who is the Beginning and the End.
O Soul of the Word, O Handmaid of God!
In compunction of heart, we cry to Thee:
"Rejoice, O Full of Grace, the Lord is with Thee!"
For Thou didst give birth to the Eternal Life,
And Thy womb was found more honorable than the throne of Solomon.
Thou art the true Bride of the King and the Mother of His Only Begotten Son.
Therefore, we glorify Thee, O pure Virgin, as the glory of all creation.

Raising Thee from the grave with all-powerful salvation, and Hell beheld a wonder, trembling, and the dead arose: the face seeing rejoiceth in Thee, and man is glad, and my world singeth Thee forever.

Glory:

Thou art the Light darkened, Thou art the Resurrection of all, and Life of men, and Thou didst raise up all, holding in Thy deathly power, breaking the gates of Hades with Thy Word: and the dead saw the wonder of Thy miracles, and every creature rejoiceth at Thy resurrection, O Lover of mankind. Therefore we all glorify Thee and sing Thy descent, and peace doth praise Thee evermore.
