When Thy Soul, O Lord, was taken down from the Cross,
Thou didst not leave it in death's sleep, but didst give it to the Theotokos,
That she might keep it in her bosom as a precious treasure.
For Thou art Life itself, and hast power over all things;
And by Thy will, O Lord, Thou didst make all things new.
Risen Thou from the grave with mighty power, and the hell saw a wonder, and was amazed; and the dead arose: and the sight thereof rejoiceth thee, and man is glad, and my world singeth Thee forever.

Hymn:
Thou art the Light enshrouded, Thou art the Resurrection of all, and the Life of men, and Thou didst raise up all, holding in Thy death the power of death, smiting the gates of Hades with Thy Word: and the dead beheld the wonder of Thine miracles, and every creature rejoiceth at Thy Resurrection, O Lover of mankind. Wherefore we all glorify Thee and sing Thy descent, and peace doth praise Thee evermore.
