Similar to: Noble Joseph...
With His Passion You gave dispassion to everyone, O Lover of Mankind, Who killed my carnal passions with Your Cross! Make me worthy, who pleases You through fasting, to see Your divine passion, so that I may receive great mercy in abundance! (twice)
(Δίς)

And now: Holy Cross, the same voice:
Similar to: Mercy of existence:
Your Virgin and Mother, O Christ, on the tree behold You prostrate dead, weeping bitterly. My son, you say that this terrible sacrament, granting eternal life to everyone, will you die on the Cross?
Glory... and now... The Holy Cross, the same voice.
Similar to: Kind-hearted...
Your Virgin and Mother, seeing You prostrate and dead on the Tree, Christ, turned to You and cried bitterly: “My Son, what is this terrible secret? How, the Giver of eternal life to everyone, do you willingly accept a shameful death on the Cross?”
καὶ νῦν…

Similar to: Life-giving:
The light-giving time, which You have now sanctified, and You have granted us abstinence, Lord, You grant us, in the tenderness of all those who are in peace, to pass on in purity, Crossing the fortress, the only One who loves mankind. (Twice)
Similar to: Life-Giving Cross...
By the power of [Your] Cross, You deign us all, Lord, to pass through with heartfelt contrition, both in purity and in peace, the light-giving time of abstinence, which You Yourself have now given to us and sanctified, O One Lover of Mankind! (twice)
(Δίς)

Slava: and also sedal.
And now: The Holy Cross, the voice is the same.
By the honorable Cross of Thy Son we preserve, O Lady Pure Mother of God, we conveniently lay down every claim of the fighter. Moreover, we dutifully please You, as the Mother of Light, the only hope of our souls.
Slava... the same sedal.
And now... The Holy Cross, the same voice.
Guarded by the precious Cross of Your Son, Holy Lady, Mother of God, we easily repel all attacks of the warlike [our Enemy]. Therefore, we deservedly glorify You, as the Mother of Light and the only Hope of our souls.
Καὶ νῦν…

Three Song of Triodi, second voice:
Three Song of Triodion, tone 2.
Song 3
Song 3
ᾨδὴ γ´.
Let us crucify the hearts with abstinence, let us be sober in prayers, as it is written, and follow the path of the life of the One who suffered, and the passion of the One who killed.
Let us crucify our [physical] members with abstinence and, as it is written, let us be sober in prayer and spend our lives following in the footsteps of Him who endured passion and who killed passion!
* * *
Having vomited bitter sin, we strive with the will of the gall to please Christ, who through the Cross overthrew the evildoer.
Having spewed bitter sin from our lips, let us try to become pleasing to Christ, Who, having tasted the gall, cast down the evil Founder with the Cross.
* * *
The custom of taking sin draws me into ultimate destruction: but You deliver me from this by Your Cross, O Most Generous One.
Sin, having become my habit, leads me to complete destruction; Save me from it with [Your] Cross, O Compassionate and Merciful One!

Theotokos: Ruler of all creatures to the Lady: as having given birth to the Lord, she freed me from the work of freedom, and the only fighter.
Theotokos. Having given birth to the Lord and therefore Dominant over all creatures, Lady, free me from slavery and service to the insidious, [my] only Enemy!

Another three-song, the same voice:
Another three-song, the same voice.

The tree of the cross, abstinence, will flourish in the world: having kissed it with love, let us enjoy the full fruitfulness of the Divine commandments of Christ.
The tree of the Cross has blossomed for the world through abstinence, and we, having accepted it with love, will enjoy the abundance of the fruits of Christ’s Divine commandments!
* * *
Abstinence from passions is still present, let us crucify the flesh of the Lord, and let us show that mortal wisdom to all Divine life.
Now let us crucify our flesh for the Lord, abstaining from passions, and for the sake of life with God* we will show its wishes to the dead!
* Another understanding is also possible: “and, living life in God,”

Glory: Trinity: I glorify the Three Faces of the One Vision, the Father, the Son and the Spirit, the One Power of the Divine, the Kingdom of all, and Lordship.
Glory... I glorify the three Persons of the One Image - the Son and the Father and the Spirit - the One Power of the Divine, the Radiance and the Kingdom of all.

And now: Theotokos: Your Nativity, O Pure One, was terrible: God is inhuman, born without beginning from the Father, and from You, in the end, besides a husband, will be born.
And now... Theotokos. The One born by You evokes awe, Pure One: after all, He is God Incarnate, Born without beginning from the Father and at the end of the years Born from You without a husband.
Καὶ νῦν…
* * *
Glory to Thee, our God, glory to Thee.
I sing the crucifixion, and the perforation of Your Divine ribs, from which I always draw immortal drink, O Christ, and am sanctified.
Glory to Thee, our God, glory to Thee!
I sing of Your crucifixion, Christ, and the piercing of Your divine side with a spear! From it I draw immortal drink day after day and am sanctified.

Irmos: Establish us in You, Lord, the tree that puts to death sin, and plant Your fear in the hearts of us who sing to You.
