O Lord, have mercy on us, O Lord: for all our thoughts are vain and senseless; we offer to Thee this prayer as sinners. Have mercy on us.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
O Lord, have mercy on us, for in hope we cry to Thee: do not be angry with us nor remember our transgressions; but look upon us now with a merciful heart and deliver us from our enemies: for Thou art God our King, and we Thy people, all our works are by Thine hand, and in Thee we call. And now and forever.

Amen.
The doors of the sanctuary open to us, O blessed Theotokos: trusting in Thee that we may not perish but be delivered by Thee from tribulations: for Thou art the salvation of the race of Christians.

O Lord, have mercy. [v.]

Mercy, O Holy Father, great in glory, to God and His Theotokos:

O Lord, eternal and King of all creation, having vouchsafed me even in this hour to come to Thee, forgive me my sins which I have committed today, by deed, word, and thought: and cleanse, O Lord, my humble soul from every stain of body and spirit, and grant me, O Lord, a peaceful sleep this night: that arising from my humble bed, I may find rest in Thy holy name throughout all the days of my life, and overcome those who fight against me, both fleshly and spiritual foes: and deliver me, O Lord, from vain thoughts which defile me, and from evil desires.

Thou art the light, and the strength, and the glory, O Father, and the Word, and the Spirit, now and ever, and to the ages of ages. Amen.

Mercy, O venerable Antioch, to the Lord our Jesus Christ:

O All-powerful, Word of God, most perfect, O Jesus Christ, our Lord, never have Thou deserted Thy servant in many mercies, but ever abide within me. O Jesus Christ, Good Shepherd of Thy flocks, deliver me not into the hands of the slanderers and do not abandon me to the desire of Satan, for sevenfold is sin in me.

Thou art invoked by the Lord, O Holy Theotokos, sleeping Thou didst preserve me with an unquenchable light within Thy holy home, wherein Thou hast left Thy teaching to me. Give me also, O unworthy servant of Thine, peace upon my bed: enlighten my soul with the light of Thy wisdom, love Thee with a pure heart, receive my heart by Thy word, sanctify my body by Thy passionless strength: keep my thoughts by Thy humility, and raise me up in time to be like Thy glorious praise for ever. Amen.

Mercy, O God, for Thy throne's sake:

O Lord, our God, O Comforter, O Spirit of Truth, have mercy on me, a sinner, and forgive me, an unworthy servant of Thine. And let not the unclean spirit abide in me, but cleanse me from all sin, whether voluntary or involuntary, known or unknown, from my youth, and from my schooling, and whatsoever is from oppression and deceit.

Even if I have called Thee by name, even if I have blasphemed Thee in thought; even if I have wronged anyone, even if I have slandered someone with anger, even if I have caused sorrow; even if I have been provoked, even if I have lied, even if I have worked without purpose: even if a poor man came to me and I despised him; even if I have grieved my brother, even if I have troubled my sister-in-law, even if I have judged anyone: even if I have quarreled, even if I have become proud, even if I have been angry: even if I stood at prayer and Thou hast moved me by my worldly wiles; even if I have had evil thoughts, even if I have sinned in confession, even if I have laughed without cause: even if I have had wicked thoughts, even if I have seen goodness and was envious of it, thereby being pierced in heart: even if I have spoken unseemly words, even if I have mocked the sin of my brother, for mine own sins are countless: even if I have not prayed with diligence, even if I have done other wicked things, I do not remember them. For all and greater than these have I done.

Forgive me, O Creator, O Master of Thy unworthy servant; and leave me, forgive me, and cleanse me, for Thou art good and lover of mankind: that I may lie down in peace, sleep and rest, O wayward, sinful and penitent one: and I will prostrate myself, sing praise, and glorify Thee, the most holy Name, with Thy Father and Holy Spirit, now and forever. Amen.

Mercy, O God, of great and glorious memory:

O Thou, who hast brought forth the life eternal, and dost reward with great gifts the immortal King, most bountiful and loving of men; for having been idle in Thy will, and doing naught that is good, Thou hast led me to this end, at the close of this day, turning and saving my soul. Be merciful to me, O sinful and naked one, in all thy works: raise up my fallen soul, defiled by countless sins, and let all my thoughts be visible in this life. Forgive my sins, only sinless One, who didst sin on this day, known and unknown, by word, deed, thought, and all my feelings. Thou Thyself dost cover me from every opposing resistance with Thine ineffable love and power. Purify Thee, O God, the multitude of my sins. Willingly grant, O Lord, to deliver me from the nets of the crafty one, and save my sinful soul, and enlighten me with the light of Thy face: when Thou comest in glory. And let not my sleep be unseasonable now, nor with thoughts; and keep the thought of Thy servant undefiled, and all the works of Satan from me: and enlighten our understanding hearts, that we may not fall into death. Send us, O Lord, an angel of peace, guardian and instructor of soul and body, that he may deliver me from my enemies: when I arise with Thee, let me bring to Thee thanksgiving prayers. Be Thou, O Lord, gracious to this sinful and holy servant, by Thy will and conscience: give me to learn by Thy words, and drive far away the evil spirits from me: and bless me, and praise Thee, and glorify Thy most pure Mother, who didst give us a covering for our sins, and receive this praying one for us: for we know that Thy love follows us, and doth not cease in prayer. By this covering, and by the sign of the cross, and all thy saints, keep Thou my holy soul with Thee: for Thou art, and art glorified to the ages. Amen.
