O Lord, have mercy on us, O Lord: for all our sins we pray Thee with unwavering faith, as sinners offering this prayer to Thy Master: have mercy on us. Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. O Lord, have mercy on us: for in hope we have placed our trust: do not be angry with us nor remember our transgressions; but look upon us now as a merciful Father, and deliver us from our enemies: for Thou art God our King, and we Thy people, all our works being by Thine hand, and to Thee we cry. O Lord, eternal and King of all creation, who hast deigned even in this hour to come to my aid, forgive me the sins I have committed today, by deed, word, and thought: and cleanse, O Lord, my humble soul from every stain of body and spirit, and give me, O Lord, a peaceful sleep this night: that arising from my humbled bed, I may find rest in Thy holy name throughout all the days of my life, and overcome those who war against me, both fleshly and spiritual: and deliver me, O Lord, from thoughts of vain things, defiling me, and from the lusts of the wicked.

O All-powerful Lord, Word of God, most perfect Son, Jesus Christ, many times have I sought mercy from Thee, O Merciful One, but Thou hast never forsaken me within me. Rather, ever abide in me. O Jesus Christ, Good Shepherd of Thy flocks, do not deliver me to the deceit of heresy, nor leave me to the desire of Satan, for indeed sevenfold deceit dwells within me. Thou art invoked by the Lord, holy Theotokos, sleeping preserved by an unquenchable light in Thy holy home, where Thou didst remain as Thy Teacher. Grant also unto me, O unworthy servant of Thine, peace upon my bed: enlighten my soul with Thy light, loving it with Thy love, and with the words of Thy mouth, soften my heart, and with Thy passionless strength, sanctify my body: preserve my thoughts by Thy humility, and raise me up in time to be like Thy glorious praise for ever. O Lord, our God, Comforter, O Spirit of Truth, Thou hast wept for me, and forgive me the sinful servant of Thine, and let not my unworthy spirit fall into despair, but blot out all my transgressions, since I have sinned today both as a man and more than a man, even as a beast: whether voluntary or involuntary, known or unknown, from youth to old age. For in thought also I have sinned, and have blasphemed Thee; and I have vexed, and I have accused, and I have grieved, and I have been angry, and I have lied, and I have labored without purpose, and I have reaped nothing: and I have received the poor with contempt, and despised him; and I have vexed my brother, and my sister, and I have judged them; and I have quarreled, and I have exalted myself, and I have been angry: and while standing at prayer, by my own wickedness I have moved Thee to anger in this world. And I have had evil thoughts, and I have sinned against Thee, and I have despised, and I have laughed without cause; and I have thought evilly, and I have seen good in another, and thereby was I pierced in heart: and I have spoken unseemly words, and I have mocked my brother's sin, for mine own sins are countless. And I have not labored at prayer, and I know not what else I have done wickedly. For all these and greater have I done. Forgive me, O Creator of my soul, Thou Who art unworthy: leave me not, blot out, and forgive me, for Thou art good and Lover of mankind: that I may lie down in peace, sleep, and rest, the penitent, sinful, and contrite one: and I will prostrate myself, and praise Thee, and glorify Thy most holy name with the Father and the Holy Spirit, now and ever and to the ages of ages. O Thou, who hast brought me and given me to receive, O most generous immortal King, full of love for man; since Thou didst find me idle in Thy desire, and having wrought naught good, Thou hast led me to the end of this day, turned and saved my soul. Be merciful to me, sinful and naked in all my works of goodness: raise up my fallen soul, defiled by countless sins, and let all my evil thoughts be made visible in this life. Forgive my sins, O only sinless One, who didst sin on this day, knowingly or unknowingly, by word, deed, thought, and every one of my senses. Thou Thyself coverest me from every opposing resistance with Thine ineffable love and power. Purify, O God, the multitude of my sins. Willingly, O God, deliver me from the snares of the evil one, save my sinful soul, and enlighten me with the light of Thy face: when Thou comest in glory. And let not this sleep now be without thought; and let not the thoughts of Thy servant be unclean: and let all Satan's offspring be cut off from me. Enlighten our understanding hearts, that we may not fall into death. Send us an angel of peace, guardian and instructor of my soul and body, that he may protect me from my enemies: when I arise with Thee, bring to Thee my thankful prayers. O God, hear Thy sinful and holy servant, by Thy will and conscience: give me understanding through Thy words to learn, and let the evil spirits be driven far away from me by Thy angels: and I shall bless Thee, praise Thee, glorify Thy most holy Mother, who gave us this intercession for sinners. For we know that Thy love never ceaseth in prayer. Through this intercession, and through the sign of Thy cross, and all Thy saints, keep Thou my holy soul: for Thou art, and art glorified to the ages. Amen.
