O Lord, have mercy on us, O Lord: for all our sins we pray Thee with unwavering faith, offering to Thy Master the prayer of sinners. Have mercy on us.
Glory be to Thee, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
O Lord, have mercy on us; for in hope we have placed our trust: do not be angry with us nor remember against us our transgressions, but look upon us now as a merciful Father, and deliver us from our enemies: for Thou art God our King, and we Thy people, all our works by Thine hand, and to Thee we cry. O Lord, eternal and King of all creation, having vouchsafed me even in this hour to come to Thee, forgive me my sins which I have committed today, by deed, word, and thought: and cleanse, O Lord, my humble soul from every stain of body and spirit, and give me, O Lord, a sound sleep this night: that arising from my humbled bed, I may find rest in Thy holy name throughout all the days of my life, and overcome those who war against me, both fleshly and spiritual: and deliver me, O Lord, from thoughts of vain things, defiling me, and from the lusts of the wicked.

O All-Ruling One, Word of God, most perfect Son, Jesus Christ, many times have I wrestled with Thee, Thy mercy, O Lord, never ceasing to cleave to me, but ever in me abiding. And Thou, O Good Shepherd of Thy flocks, deliver me not into the hands of the slanderers, and let me not be left to the desire of Satan, for indeed sevenfold within me is his fire. For Thou art the Lord invoked by the holy Theotokos, sleeping Thou didst preserve me with an unquenchable light in Thy house, where Thou didst rest as Teacher. Give also unto me, O unworthy servant of Thine, a repose upon my own couch: enlighten my soul with Thy light, loving it with Thy love, and with Thy words make my heart tender, and with Thy passionless strength my body: keep my thoughts by Thy humility, and exalt me in time to be like unto Thy glorious praise for ever. O Lord, heavenly King, Comforter, O Spirit of Truth, have mercy on me, a sinful servant of Thine, and forgive me my unworthy state, and blot out all my transgressions, for I have sinned today, more than a man, even as a beast: both voluntary and involuntary sins, known and unknown, from youth to old age, and from ignorance. Even in them, I have sinned:
- I have blasphemed Thee by name,
- I have reviled Thee in my thoughts.
- I have grieved Thee with anger,
- I have saddened Thee with words of contention.
- I have been angry for no cause.
- I have lied and spoken vainly.
- I have ploughed without purpose.
- I have despised the poor who came to me.
- I have grieved my brother, my bride, and others whom I judged.
- I have quarreled, grown proud, and been envious.
- I have prayed with Thee against my own wickedness in this world.
- I have had evil thoughts, I have sinned by fasting,
- I have laughed without cause.
Even these, and more than these, have I done. Forgive me, O Creator, Thou unworthy servant of Thine: leave me not, forgive me, for Thou art good and lover of mankind: that I may lie down in peace, sleep and rest, the prodigal, sinful and sinner I am; and I will prostrate myself, praise Thee, and glorify Thy most holy Name, with the Father and the Only-begotten Son, now and ever, and to the ages of ages. O Thou, who bringest and givest, O immortal King of the heavens, most bountiful and loving to man, Lord; for having been idle in Thy will, and doing nothing good, Thou hast brought me to this end of my day's journey, turning and saving my soul. Be mindful of me, O sinful and naked one, in all thy works: raise up my fallen soul, defiled by countless sins, and let the whole thought of my wickedness be made visible in this life. Forgive my sins, only sinless One, who didst sin on this day, known and unknown, by word, deed, and thought, and all my feelings. Thou Thyself coverest me from every opposing resistance with Thine ineffable love and power. Purify Thee, O Lord, the multitude of my sins. Willingly grant, O Lord, to deliver me from the net of the wicked one, and save my sinful soul, and enlighten me with the light of Thy face: when Thou comest in glory. And now let not my sleep be unseasonable, nor without thought; and keep not the thought of Thy servant, but utterly root out all satanic works from me: and enlighten our understanding hearts, that we may not fall into death. Send to us an angel of peace, guardian and instructor of soul and body, that he may deliver me from my enemies: when I arise with Thee, let me bring Thee thanksgiving prayers. Hearken Thou, O Lord, to Thy sinful and holy servant, by will and conscience: give me to learn by Thy words, and drive far away the evil spirit from me: and bless me, and praise, and glorify the most Holy Theotokos, who gave us a covering for our sins, and receive this praying one on our behalf: for we know that Thy love follows us, and our prayers do not cease. By this covering, and by the sign of the cross, and by all thy saints, keep Thou my holy soul with Thee: for Thou art, and art glorified to the ages. Amen.
