Mercy Thee, Lord, mercy Thee; for by understanding not we have sinned this prayer, offering ourselves to Thy Master: mercy Thee.

Glory: The reading of thy triumph, O Lord, the Church doth show, and the angels rejoice with men. Thou by thy prayers, O God, rulest in peace our life, that we may sing to thee: Alleluia.

Now: Many of my afflictions, O Theotokos, are more than I can bear; to thee, beseeching thy mercy, I have fled, reading. Visit, O my sick soul, and pray for me to thine own and our God, that He may grant me remission, since I have endured much, alone blessed.

And also, Lord, have mercy, Thee.

And having bowed down with a humble heart, Ephraim powerfully and with reverence.

O Lord and Master of my life, do not give me over to the spirit of vain glory, compunction of heart, love of beginning and boastful speech. Bowing down.

Spirit of wholehearted obedience, spirit of humility, patience and love, grant me Thy servant. Bow.

O King, give me to see my own transgressions, and do not condemn my brother: for thou art blessed unto the ages of ages. Bow.[1]

Thus saith the prayer thus with attention:

O Most Merciful and Compassionate Lord,
And Giver of all good, Lover of mankind,
And Thou, O All-holy King of the ages, many-named,
Master and Lord, I, though poor and wretched,
Dare to call upon Thee, Whose power encompasses all created things.

With fear they tremble: from the lowly earth unspeakable was the look of Thy wondrous love, O Lord, which Thou didst behold with a marvelling gaze through the sending of Thine beloved Son. From the unoriginated depths of Thy most holy glory, with an inextinguishable flame Thou didst pour forth upon men, that they might be made one with the angels.

Let alone the composition; let the Lord alone construct it. Penance, O Lord, my humble confession: a sinner and a stranger, I call to thee, weak in the flesh, burdened by thy word, and by death I have freed the soul of ours from the bondage of the enemy, that we may be partakers.

All ye who have taken up the work of Thy commandment by faith, shall be made partakers of Thy glory, from which the crafty adversary hath fallen. Have mercy on me, O Enveloped in thoughts of sin; raise me up with the pierced reed of my wearied spirit, and by the power of unyielding will: strengthen my heart according to Thee.

Grief mētǐ, O My̑ fount̓ of tlès̓, after this, and at the énd of my̑ dǔshì́, make mě́ blameless as Thy̑ well-pleasing one, guiding mě́ with all my̑ heart to Theè. Pray for My̑ parents, O My̑ mercies̓, and all My̑ neig̓hbors, and My̑ brothers, and friends.

And let my neighbors, and all righteous Christians, pray for me with the prayers of all the saints: and receive into honor this my soul and prayer, which I spoke to Thee for myself, and be not loath to hear my supplication with sighs, because I am a prayerful and lover of man, and Thou art the beginningless.

Glory to Thee, with Thy Only-Begotten Son, and with Thy Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
