Merciful Lord, have mercy on us, for though we are foolish and without understanding of eternal things, by this our prayer we offer ourselves to Thee as sinners: have mercy on us.

Glory: The reading proclaims thy triumph, O Lord, the holy Church doth show, and the angels rejoice with men. Thou dost pray by thy Martyrs, in the world thou orderest our life, that we may sing to thee: Alleluia.

Now: Many of my multitudes, O Theotokos, have transgressed: to Thee, I flee, beseeching Thy succor. Visit Thou my feeble soul in its weakness, and pray for me with Thine own and our God, that He may grant me forgiveness, since I have endured much, and alone am blessed.

And also, Lord, have mercy, Thee.

Having bowed down with humble reverence, O mighty power of Ephraim:

O Lord and Master, and Lady of my life, do not give me the spirit of emptiness, sorrow, despondency, beginning and empty speech. Bowing.

Spirit of wholehearted obedience, of humility, of patience and love, grant this Thy servant. Bow.

O Lord, King, grant me to see my own transgressions, and let not my brother judge: for thou art blessed unto the ages of ages. Amen. Bow.

Thus we pray this prayer with attention:

O Most Merciful and Compassionate Lord,
And Giver of all good, Lover of mankind,
And O Thou, All-merciful King of the universe,
Master and Lady,
Though I am poor and wretched,
I dare to call upon Thee, Thy holy Name,
Whose power encompasses all created things.

With fear they tremble: from the lowly earth unspeakable was thy wondrous look of love, O Lover of mankind, which thou didst behold with a gaze of exceeding affection. From the unfathomable depths of thy most holy glory, with an unseparating flame of thine ineffable goodness thou didst kindle it, that men might be together with the angels.

Let One alone compose. O Lord, Thy mercy: a weak and frail one, I call upon the unapproachable light, by the weakness of my flesh encompassed, and with humble lips I bear thy word, and by my death have delivered the soul of ours from the captivity of the enemy, that we may be partakers.

All ye who have taken up thy work by faith in my commandment, shall partake of thy glory, from which the deceitful adversary hath fallen. Have mercy on me, O enwrapped in thoughts of sin; raise me up with the pierced reed of laziness, and by the unyielding spirit: strengthen my heart according to thee.

Grieve not, O my eyes, the fountains of my tears, and to the end of the going out of my soul, make me blameless as thy chosen, guiding me with all my heart unto thee. Pray for me, O my parents, with thy mercies, and all my near ones, and brethren, and friends.

And my neighbors, and all righteous Christians, save me with the prayers of all thy saints: and receive in honor this my soul and prayer, which I spoke to thee for myself, and let it not be hateful to thee with sighing and prayer, as one who prays much and lover of man, and thou, O beginningless.

Glory to Thee, with Thy Only-Begotten Son, and with Thy Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
