Merciful Lord, have mercy on us, for though we are foolish and without understanding, by this our prayer we offer ourselves to Thee as sinners: have mercy on us.

Glory: The reading of thy triumph, O Lord, the Church doth show, and the angels rejoice with men. Thou by thy prayers, O God, rulest in the world, that we may sing to thee: Alleluia.

Now: Many of my afflictions, O Theotokos, have exceeded measure; to thee I flee, beseeching thy peace. Visit my feeble soul and pray for me with thine own and our God, that He may grant me deliverance, since I have endured much, alone blessed.

And also, Lord, have mercy, Thee.

And having bowed down with a meek and humble heart, Ephraim:

O Lord and Master of my life, do not give me over to the spirit of vain glory, compunction of heart, beginning and boastful speech. Amen. Bowing down.

Spirit of wholehearted obedience, of humility, of patience and love, grant this Thy servant. Bow.

To Thee, O King, grant me to see my own transgressions, and not to condemn my brother: for Thou art blessed unto the ages of ages. Amen. Bow.[1]

Thus we say this prayer with attention:

O Most Merciful and Full of Compassion Lord,
And Giver of every good and perfect gift, O Lover of mankind,
And Thou, O All-holy King of all the ages, Master and Lord,

I, this poor and wretched one, dare to call upon Thy wondrous and fearful, steadfast and holy Name,
Wherewith all Thy created powers are invoked.

With fear they tremble: From beneath the earth unspeakable was the look of Thy wondrous love, O Lord, which Thou didst marvel at with a gaze of loving-kindness from Thine own Son. Whence from the unoriginated depths of Thy divine glory, with an inextinguishable flame Thou didst kindle Him, that men might be together with the angels.

Let alone the composition; let the Lord alone construct it. Penance, O Lord, my humble confession: a sinner and a stranger, I call to thee, enfolded in weakness of body, and with trembling lips I bear thy word, and by death have freed the soul of man from the bondage of the enemy, that we may be partakers.

All ye who have taken up the work of Thy labor by faith, shall be made partakers of Thy glory, from which the crafty adversary hath fallen. Have mercy on me, O Enveloped in thoughts of sin, raise me up with the pierced reed of my wearied heart, and by the unyielding spirit: strengthen my heart according to Thee.

Goriți, Očima mojima istochnikъ slězъ posli, i na konec ishoda duši moi͡a, sothoriti mja beznorochna tvoego gođnika, nastavlěnya mja sěrdenvta k tobě podvizatissya. Pomjanì gđi, roditieli mojajǔ mljrдиemъ tvojimъ, i vsyajǔ bliznjǔ mojajǔ, i bratiyu, i drugiǔ.

And my neighbors, and all righteous Christians, save me by your prayers: and receive with honor this my soul and prayer, which I spoke to thee for myself, and let it not be hateful to thee with sighs of supplication, as one who prays and lover of mankind, and thou of the unbeginning.

Glory to Thee, with Thy Only-Begotten Son, and with Thy Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
