In the psalmody of the stichira, the tone is 4:
Thee, O Incarnate Saviour of the Theotokos, and Thou not having been separated from Her, in Thy songs we magnify with voice: For Thou didst take death by Thyself, for our kindred, and as One loving mankind, didst cast down the gates of hell, and three days didst rise again, saving our souls.
Verily, hymns are likened to the throne of the Theotokos, Gloria: Verily: Rejoice in fasting:
I stretch my hands to Thee, and open my foul mouth to prayer; I bow my heart’s knee, and with my pure feet now touch Thy holy ones, reading: And I fall down to Thee: heal my diseases, O Thou who bringest healing many times over and dost not leave the incurable. Deliver me from visible enemies and invisible: alleviate the weakness of my youth, the burden of my sloth, that I may sing Thee and glorify Thee, by whom I shall find peace in great mercy.
Rejoice, O Mother of God, beyond telling begun without blemish, and having given birth to Thee, Thou didst receive our flesh from Thy immaculate and self-ruling blood: not in vain didst Thou clothe Thyself in Adam, for the sake of mercy and unspeakable goodness. In both natures Thou dost proclaim us, showing by Thyself the working of Jesus Christ: pray that our souls may receive great mercy.
Rejoice in goodness, as one whom God hath chosen and loved, O door of the saved, fiery snare, release from oaths, all-hallowed: womb that received the Lord, lifting up the fallen: more glorious than cherubim, and thy faces surpassing theirs: invisible vision, hearing newer than any, speech inexpressible, chariot of words: cloud, from whence arose the sun, and enlightening me, giving great mercy to the living in darkness.
Glory, and honour, now, to the Theotokos:
O Lord, Thou hast prophesied and fulfilled double the reading:
In the vision of the prophet, Thou didst open a door to Thy prophecy, standing in the east, where none may pass but by Thy will, O Ruler of all:
And in the vision of the fire, Thou wast burning with divine fire, and could not be touched.
Thou didst mount the mountain from which no stone was hewn except human hand, and smote the image of Nebuchadnezzar: truly great and glorious is that mystery of Thine.
Therefore we glorify Thee; by Thee hath been saved our souls.
