When the tomb was opened and those weeping stood by,
the Resurrection cried out to those hidden in the grave:
"Bring forth the vineyard of them that made it,
proclaim the word of the resurrection:
rise, O Lord, and give a great mercy to the world."

O Lord, standing before thy grave, Magdalene weeps, beseeching the governor:
Where didst thou hide the eternal life;
Where laidst thou, upon the table with cherubim?
For keeping watch over this, they have fallen asleep through fear.
Give me also, O my Lord,
And let us cry together:
Even though I was dead in the midst of the dead, Thou hast raised me to glory.

I love Thee, O Lord, my stronghold: Thou art the strength of my heart, and my refuge, and my fortress, and my deliverer, God my Saviour, my Helper, to whom I cry for help. My protector, and the horn of my salvation, and my defender.
I call upon Thee from the heights, and from the enemies that surround me. Thou didst sustain me in my sicknesses, and healed me of my transgressions: the sicknesses of hell afflicted me, they preceded me with snares of death. And when I was troubled, I called upon Thee, and cried to Thee from Thy holy temple; and my cry before Thee entered into Thine ears.
The earth trembled, and its foundations were shaken, and the mountains melted at Thy presence: for Thou wast angry against them, O God. A smoke of anger went up from Thee, and fire came forth from Thy face to kindle: the coals of it blazed. And Thou didst descend with Thy heaven, and darkness covered the ground beneath. Thou wentest upon the cherubim, and flewst upon the wings of the wind. Thou didst spread out Thy covering over them; the moon shone forth from their midst: dark waters in the clouds above.
From the brightness before Thee, the clouds passed away, the city and the fiery flames. And Thou didst thunder from heaven, and the high one gave His voice. Thou didst send arrows, and smote them, and multiplied the maledictions upon them. And Thou didst open fountains of water, and the foundations of the world were uncovered from Thy commandment, O Lord: from the inspiration of Thine angry Spirit.
From heights Thou didst give me comfort, and from many waters received me. Thou didst preserve me from strong enemies and from those that hated me: for Thou art stronger than I. Thou didst precede me in the day of my affliction, and Thou wast made my strength. And Thou didst lead me to broad places: Thou didst preserve me according as I desired.
Thou wilt give me according to my righteousness, and according to the cleanness of my hands Thou wilt reward me; for I have kept the ways of the Lord, and have not been disobedient unto His Holy Spirit. For all the judgments of Thee are before me, and the righteousness of Thee hath not departed from me.
I shall be blameless with Thee, and keep myself from sin. Thou wilt give me according to my righteousness, and according to the cleanness of my hands before Thy eyes. With the Venerable thou shalt be Venerable, and with the innocent thou shalt be Innocent, and with the chosen thou shalt be Chosen, and with the rebellious thou shalt make them drunk.
For Thou hast delivered me from men that are proud, and hast humbled the haughty. For Thou hast enlightened my lamp, O Lord: my God, Thou hast enlightened my darkness. For by Thee I am saved from temptation, and by Thy Saviour I pass through the wall.
Thou art a blameless path of the Lord: Thy words have been kindled as a light. A defender is He to all that hope in Him. Who else is God but Thee? And who else is God but our God? Thou hast strengthened me with power, and laid out before me a blameless way: working wonders for me like Elias, setting me upon high, teaching my hands to fight, and laying thereon a bow of brass; giving me the protection of salvation, and Thy right hand received me. And Thy chastisement shall correct me at the end, and Thy chastisement shall instruct me.
Thou didst enlarge my steps under me, and I was not faint in my going. Thou didst smite mine enemies, and overtook them, and they returned not until they were consumed: I made them to weep, and they could not stand before my feet. And Thou didst give strength to me for battle, Thou didst slay all that rose up against me beneath me. And Thou gavest me the back of mine enemies, and those that hated me Thou hast destroyed.
I called upon Thee, and Thou wast not a Saviour: I cried unto Thee, and Thou didst not hear. As dust before the face of the wind, as chaff that passeth away with the paths. Thou didst deliver me from the mouth of men: Thou didst set me at the head of peoples; people whom I knew not served me, in the hearing of my ears they obeyed me.
The sons of strangers lied to me, and sons of strangers swore and defiled their own way. He liveth, and blessed be God, that His salvation may rise up for my salvation, and that God may give me remission, and subdue men under me; Thou art my deliverer from the angry enemies, from them that rose against me: from the man unjust Thou didst save me.
For this I will confess Thee in the tongues, O Lord, and praise Thy name for ever.
