I love Thee, O Lord, my stronghold: Thou art the strength of my heart, and my refuge, and my fortress, and my deliverer, God my Saviour, my Helper, to whom I cry for help: My defender, and the horn of my salvation, and my protector. I call upon Thee from on high against my enemies, and Thou hast delivered me from deadly diseases, and from the plagues of lawlessness have I been kept: The plagues of hell have encompassed me, and have preceded me with snares of death. And when I was in sorrow, I cried to Thee, and called upon Thy Name before Thee; and Thy voice out of Thy holy temple heard my cry, and my prayer came into Thine ears. And the earth moved and trembled, and its foundations were shaken and quaked, for Thou wert angry with them, O God. A smoke went up from His anger, and fire issued forth from His face: Flames blazed from Him. And He stretched out His hand and came down, and darkness covered His feet. And He went up on the cherubim and flew, flying on the wings of a whirlwind. And He laid His own covering upon them; the moon was hidden by His light: Dark waters in the clouds were seen. From the brightness before Him the clouds passed away, the city and fiery flames. And He thundered from heaven, and His voice came forth from above. He sent arrows and scattered them, and multiplied the lightning and smote them. And He opened the fountains of water, and the foundations of the earth were uncovered from Thy prohibition, O Lord: from the inspiration of the Spirit of Thine anger. He sent from on high and comforted me, taking me out of many waters. He delivered me from strong enemies and from those who hated me: for Thou hast strengthened me more than them. He led me in the day of my affliction, and Thou art my strength. And He brought me to broad places: He delivered me, as I desired. And He will reward me according to my righteousness, and according to the cleanness of my hands before Thee, for I have kept Thy ways and have not been unrighteous from Thy God. For all the judgments of Him are before me, and the righteousness of Him has not departed from me. And I shall be blameless with Him and keep myself from lawlessness. And He will reward me according to my righteousness and the cleanness of my hands before His eyes. With the venerable thou shalt be venerable, and with the innocent thou shalt be innocent, and with the chosen thou shalt be chosen, and with the rebellious thou shalt be made drunk. For Thou hast delivered men of lowly spirit from their enemies; and Thou hast humbled the proud by them. For Thou hast enlightened my lamp, O God: My God, Thou hast enlightened my darkness. For by Thee I am delivered from temptation, and by Thy God I have passed through the wall. O God, Thy way is blameless: Thy words are kindled like a fire. He is the protector of all who hope in Him. For who is God but Thou? And who is God but our God? God girded me with strength, and laid down a blameless path for me: Working wonders as an Egyptian, and setting me on high: Teaching my hands to fight, and placed upon me a bow of brass: And gave me the protection of salvation, and Thy right hand received me: And Thy chastisement will correct me at the end, and Thy chastisement will instruct me. Thou didst enlarge my steps under me, and I was not faint in my going. Thou hast smitten mine enemies, and overcame them, until they perish: I have caused them to mourn, and they could not stand, they fell under my feet. And Thou didst strengthen me with power for battle, and Thou didst slay all that rose up against me beneath me. And Thou gavest me the back of mine enemies, and those who hated me Thou hast consumed. Thou didst not deliver them, and they heard not: They were as dust before the face of a wind, as chaff swept away by the ways. Thou hast delivered me from the quarreling of men: Thou hast set me at the head of tongues: Men whom I knew not worked for me, in their ears they hearkened to me. Sons of strangers lied against me, sons of strangers swore and defiled their own paths. Living, blessed be God, and may God lift up my salvation, God giving me rest and making men bow down under me, my deliverer from the angry enemies: From those who rose up against me Thou hast exalted me, from the unjust man Thou hast delivered me. For this I will confess to Thee in tongues, O Lord, and praise Thy Name: Praising the salvation of His kingdom and creating the Church of His Son for ever.
