To the Lord, when sorrow doth afflict me, I cried out, and He heard me.

Almsáthitel, deliver my soul from the wrath of the unrighteous and from the tongue of deceit.

г҃. Что̀ да́стсѧ тебѣ̀, и҆лѝ что̀ приложи́тсѧ тебѣ̀ къ ѧ҆зы́кꙋ льсти́вꙋ;
What profiteth thee, or what thing shall be brought to thee by the tongue of deceit?

Alms strēly sílnagṓ iz̀sshrýny, so dsh́rese pustýnnyymi.

O Soul, strong arrows have been stretched, with fiery darts of the wilderness.

Alas, because my stranger-voyage continueth, I have dwelt with the dwellers of the sea.

Many a stranger hath my soul dwelt with: with them that hated peace I was at peace.

When I said to them, "I fought for you."
