Yirmós: Life's Sea / uplifted by the tempest of adversities, / I have come to thy calm harbor, O my Refuge. / Raise up from death, O my Life, O Most Merciful.

Vespers: Glory to Thee, O Lord, for Thy resurrection glorified Thee.

Master, pierced with nails and by a spear,
Thou didst invoke a curse upon us:
With a lance thou wast wounded in the side,
Rending Adam's writing, freeing the world.

Vespers: Glory to Thee, O Lord, for Thy resurrection glorified Thee.

When he descended, by deceit being enticed,
into the depths of hell:
but thou, by nature, O God and merciful,
didst descend for man's salvation,
and upon the cross didst bear,
resurrecting thyself.

Pripev: Preshta bce, spasi nas.

Theotokos: Praising Thee, Lady,
Who didst bear the helmsman for mankind,
Constant and bitter suffering of my passions, Thou hast healed;
And grant Thy peace to my heart.

Andronicus. Chant: Glory to Thee, O Lord, for Thy precious and life-giving Incarnation.

The Saviour and Prophet-killer was the Jewish multitude:
For the prophets of old, being true to the truth, did not kill those mysteries which were luminous:
Even so now, He whom we preached then,
were led by envy to kill.
But unto us a life made deathful hath been given.

Vespers: Glory to Thee, O Lord, for Thy merciful compassion and resurrection.

Let it be, but not held in the power of death, though Thou didst taste the word of death of Thy own will, / yet hast Thou risen because God is without death, / raising up the prisoners that are in Hades, / and joy instead of former grief Thou hast again transformed.

Pripev: Preshta Theotokos, spasynas.

Theotokos: Dishonorable is thy and meagre the sight of thy body / more than men's in the time of passion: / for divinity, by its very essence, doth show itself fair with goodness; / but with Thy rod Thou smitest the strength of Thine enemies, speaking thus, reading: / From my flesh and from the grave arise.

Andrei. Choral Response: Having lifted up the Theotokos, save us.

Great was the prefiguration in the prophets concerning Moses, / the ark, and the table, and the candlestick, and the rod, / which were fashioned as a type of the Incarnation, / which came from Thee, O Thou of heights, two-fold.

Glory to Thee, and to Thy Son, and to Thy Holy Spirit.

Death doth mortify, and corruption exerciseth Adam's condemnation, O Lady!
The fruit of thy travail hath been brought forth:
For life thou didst bear,
From corruption freeing them that sing to thee.

And now and ever and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

The Law and commandment weakened me, and sorrow went over me / more than the breast of one deeply moved by great mercy, / which thou dost work for me, O God, and bringeth salvation, much prayed for.

Blessed be the Godhead and Most Honorable,
Celebrating the feast,
By the God-besotted and God-wise,
Come with your hands to praise,
Honoring Him Who was not born of woman, O glorify.

O Lord, have mercy. [Three times.]

By the prayers of our holy Mother, Jesus Christ, O Lord, have mercy on us, amen.
