Yrmos: Life's Sea / uplifted by the tempest of perils, / to thy calm harbor I now come: / raise up from death my life, O Full of Mercy.

Vespers: Glory to Thee, O Lord, for Thy resurrection glorify us.

Master, pierced by the nails and by the spear's point,
thou didst invoke a curse upon us:
thou wast pierced with the spear,
tearing open Adam's writing, and freed the world.

Vespers: Glory to Thee, O Lord, for Thy resurrection glorified Thee.

When he descended, by deceit being enticed,
unto the depths of hell:
but thou, by nature, O God and merciful,
didst descend for man's recovery,
and upon the cross didst bear,
resurrecting thyself.

Pripev: Presvytori Theotokos, spaseniya nas.

Theotokos: Reading the Lady,
Who gave birth to the Rudder of men,
Soothe with unceasing and bitter compunction my passions,
And grant me silence in my heart.

Andronicus. Chant: Glory to Thee, O Lord, for Thy merciful and life-giving Incarnation.

The Saviour and Prophet-killer was the Jewish multitude:
For the prophets of old, being true mysteries of light, could not slay them:
Even so now, He whom we preached then,
were drawn by envy to kill Him.
But unto us is given a life made death to Him.

Vespers: Glory to Thee, O Lord, for Thy merciful compassion and resurrection.

There was a death, but not held in the power of Hades,
for though thou didst taste the word of death by thy will,
yet wast thou raised by God the Immortal,
raising up the prisoners that were in hades,
and joy instead of former grief, again changing it.

Pripev: Preshta Theotokos, spasynas.

Theotokos: Dishonorable is thy and meagre the sight of thy body / more than men’s in the time of passion: / for divinity, by its very essence, doth show itself fair with goodness; / but with Thy rod Thou smitest the strength of Thine enemies, speaking thus, reading: / From my flesh and from the grave arise.

Andronicus. Chanting: When Thou didst ascend, save us, Thee beseech.

Great was the prefiguration in the Prophets concerning Moses, / the ark, and the table, and the candlestick, and the rod, / fashioned as a type of the Incarnation, / which came from Thee, O Thou of heights, two-fold.

Glory to Thee, and to Thy Son, and to Thy Holy Spirit.

Death doth wither, and corruption exerciseth Adam's condemnation, O Lady!
The fruit of thy travail hath been brought forth:
For life thou didst bear,
From the withering, delivering them that sing to thee.

And now and ever and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

The Law and commandment weakened me, and a shadow went over me,
more than darkness by which the great mercy of Thy good pleasure
hath two-folded me, O God, giver of life and salvation, much-praised.

Blessed be the Godhead and Most Honored,
Celebrating the feast,
By the God's wisdom, come with your hands to praise,
From not having been born, glorify Him who was born of Theotokos.

O Lord, have mercy. [Three times.]

By the prayers of our holy Mother, O Jesus Christ, God, have mercy on us, amen.
