Yrmos: Life's Sea / uplifted by the tempest of perils, / to thy calm harbor I now come: / raise up from death my life, O full of mercy.
Vespers: Glory to Thee, O Lord, for Thy resurrection glorified Thee.
Master, pierced with nails and by the curse,
Thou didst invoke upon us:
With a spear we were pricked in the side,
Adam's writing torn apart, freeing the world.
Vespers: Glory to Thee, O Lord, for Thy resurrection glorify us.
When he descended, by deceit being enticed,
into the depths of hell:
but thou, by nature, O God and merciful,
didst descend for man's salvation,
and upon the cross didst bear,
resurrecting thyself.
Prěpěv: Preshta Prineče, spasí nas.
Theotokos: Reading the Master,
Who gave birth to a human helmsman,
Soothe with unceasing and bitter compunction my passions,
And grant me peace in my heart.
Andronicus. Chant: Glory to Thee, O Lord, for Thy precious and life-giving Incarnation.
The Saviour and Prophet-killer was the Jewish multitude:
For the prophets of old, being true mysteries of light, could not slay them:
Even so now, He whom we preached then,
were drawn by envy to kill Him.
But unto us is given a life made death to Him.
Vespers: Glory to Thee, O Lord, Thy merciful compassion and resurrection.
There was a death, but not held in the power of the grave,
for though thou didst taste the word of death by thy will,
yet wast thou raised because God is without death,
having raised the prisoners that were in hades,
and joy instead of former grief, again changing it.
Prěpěv: Preshta Prineče, spasí nas.
Theotokos: Profane is thy and meagre visage in the sight of mortals / more than men's in the time of passion: / for divinity, by its very essence, doth show itself fair and goodly: / but with Thy rod Thou smitest the strength of Thine enemies, speaking thus in the psalm: / From my flesh, O God, from the grave arise.
Andronicus. Chant: Having lifted up Thyself, O Theotokos, save us.
Great was the prewriting in the prophesies of Moses, / concerning the ark, and table, and candlestick, and rod, / adorned with signs foretelling the Incarnation, / which came from Thee, O Thou Highest, two-fold.
Glory to Thee, and to Thy Son, and to Thy Holy Spirit.
Death doth wither, and corruption exerciseth Adam's condemnation, O Lady!
The fruit of thy travail hath been brought forth:
For life didst thou bear,
From the withering, delivering them that sing to thee.
And now and ever and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
The Law and commandment weakened, and sorrow went before me,
more than the breast of one most filled with Thy mercy,
which Thou dost work in me two-fold,
O God, giver of life and salvation, much-praised.
Blessed be the Godhead and all-honorable,
Celebrating the feast,
By the God-blessed wisdom of God the Father,
Come, let us with hands uplifted glorify
Him Who was not born of woman, in His glory we acclaim.
O Lord, have mercy. [Three times.]
By the prayers of our holy Fathers, Jesus Christ, O Soul, have mercy on us, Amen.
