Yirmos: Life's Sea / uplifted by the tempest of perils, / I now flow to thy calm harbor, O Lord. / Raise up from death my life, O Most Merciful.

Vespers: Glory to Thee, O Lord, for Thy resurrection glorified Thee.

Master, pierced with nails and by the spear,
Thou didst invoke a curse upon us:
With the lance we were pierced in the side,
Adam's written sentence thou didst tear asunder, freeing the world.

Vespers: Glory to Thee, O Lord, for Thy resurrection glorify us.

When he descended, by deceit being enticed,
unto the depths of hell:
but as man, and God also merciful,
he went down to seek,
and upon the cross bore thee up,
gave thee life again.

Refrain: Having lifted up Thee, O Theotokos, save us.

Theotokos: Reading the Mistress,
Who gave birth to man's pilot,
Soothe with unceasing and bitter compunction my passions,
And grant me a tranquil heart.

Andronicus. Chant: Glory to Thee, O Lord, for Thy merciful and life-giving Incarnation.

The Saviour and Prophet-killer was the Jewish multitude:
For the prophets of old, being true mysteries of light, could not slay them:
Even so now, He whom we preached then,
were drawn by envy to kill Him.
But unto us is given a life made death to Him.

Choir Response: Glory to Thee, O Lord, in Thy mercy and resurrection.

There was a death, but not held in the power of Hades, /
for though Thou didst taste the word of death by Thy will, /
yet didst Thou rise because God is without death, /
raising up those who were bound in the depths of hell, /
and joy instead of former grief, again changing it.

Refrain: Having lifted up Thee, O Theotokos, save us.

Theotokos: Disgraceful is thy and meagre appearance in the bodily vision / more than that of men in the time of passion: / for Thou, O God-blessed One, by Thy very essence, art revealed in beauty by goodness; / but with the rod of Thy power Thou didst smite the strength of Thine enemies, speaking as Thou didst read: / From My flesh and from the grave arise.

Lord. Hymn: Having lifted up the Theotokos, save us.

Great was the forewriting in the prophesies of Moses, / concerning the ark, and the table, and the candlestick, and the rod, / fashioned with signs denoting the Incarnation, / which came from Thee, O Thou of heights, two-fold.

Glory to Thee, and to Thy Son, and to Thy Holy Spirit.

Death worketh corruption, and decay exerciseth Adam's condemnation, O Lady! The fruit of thy travail hath been brought forth: for life thou hast borne Him, who delivereth from corruption, singing praise to thee.

And now and for evermore. Amen.

The Law and commandment having failed, and I wandered about,
more than by the Spirit, who is of greater understanding and mercy from Thee,
who twofold beareth me up,
O God, and Saviour, much-praised.

Blessed be the Godhead and Most Honored,
Celebrating the feast,
By the God's wisdom, come with your hands to praise,
From not having been born, glorify Him who was born of Theotokos.

O Lord, have mercy. [Three times.]

By the prayers of our holy Mother, O Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on us, Amen.
