Yirmós: Life's Sea / uplifted by the tempest of adversities, / I have come to thy calm harbor, O my Refuge. / Raise up from death, O my Life, O most heedful.

Master, pierced with nails and by a spear,
Thou didst invoke a curse upon us:
With a lance thou wast wounded in the side,
Adam's written sentence thou didst tear asunder, freeing the world.
Vespers: Glory to Thee, O Lord, for Thy resurrection glorify we.
When he descended, by deceit having been enticed, into the depths of hell:
But being in very nature God, and being also willing to be made man,
he went down to seek, and upon the right hand bore thee up, reviving thee.
Pripev: Presvytori Theotokos, spaseniya nas.
Theotokos: Praising the Lady,
Who gave birth to the Rudder of men,
And hath continually and bitterly softened my passions,
And grant peace to my heart.
Andron. Hymn: Glory to Thee, O Lord, for Thy merciful and resurrection gift.
The Saviour and Prophet-Bearer was the Jewish multitude:
For the prophets of old, being made known the mysteries of truth, did not slay them:
Even so now, He Whom I preached then,
were they drawn by envy to kill Him.
But unto us is given a life of death.
Vespers: Glory to Thee, O Lord, for Thy merciful compassion and resurrection.
There was a death, but not held in the power of the grave,
for though thou didst taste the word of death by thy will,
yet wast thou raised again because God is without death,
having raised up the prisoners that were in hades,
and joy instead of former grief, having again changed it.
Pripev: Presvytori Theotokos, spaseniya nas.
Theotokos: Disgraceful is thy and meagre appearance in the sight of mortals /
more than men's, in the time of passion: /
for divinity by its very essence, adorned with beauty, doth manifest righteousness: /
but with Thy rod Thou smitest the strength of Thine enemies, speaking the Word: /
From My side, O God and Man, arise.
Andronicus. Chanting: When the Theotokos ceased, save us.
Great was the forewriting in the prophesies of Moses, / concerning the ark, and the table, and the candlestick, and the rod, / fashioned with signs denoting the Incarnation, / which came from Thy heavens, O Lord, two-fold.
Glory to Thee, and to Thy Son, and to Thy Holy Spirit.
Death doth wither, and corruption exerciseth Adam's condemnation, O Lady!
The fruit of thy travail hath been brought forth:
For life thou didst bear,
From the withering freeing them that sing to thee.
And now and ever and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
The Law and commandment weakened me, and a shadow went over me, /
more than darkness with the sense of a deeper mercy, /
whereby Thou dost work two fold salvation, /
O God, and Saviour, much-praised.
Blessed be the Godhead and all-honorable,
Celebrating the feast,
By the God-blessed wisdom of God the Father,
Come, let us with our hands praise,
Hailing the God-born from His nativity.
O Lord, have mercy. [Three times.]
By the prayers of our holy Mother, O Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on us, Amen.
