Glory to Thee, O Lord, glory to Thee! For Thou art life (жизнь) and we have no life (жизни) unless Thou givest it; Thou givest it always (выну), and takest it away suddenly (напрасно). We are a spectacle (позорище) to the stranger (странный) in Thy kingdom, for our heart is moved with compunction (умиление) when we behold Thee. For Thou art the Creator (тварь) of all things and hast given us power (область) over them; yet we use it not as Thou hast commanded, but according to our own will. Therefore, O Lord, have mercy on us (милость).
Let us fall down as sheep in prayer, O God our King: save Thy people, for Thou art the strength of those who are weak and the restoration thereof.
Through the first sin of the uncreated Lord, we have become fierce enemies; but early did we also heal by Thy, O Lord, for which Thou hast suffered for us: for Thou art the strength of those who are weak and the correction of sinners.
Exalted hath Thou, O Lord, from the abyss, O slayer of all-slaying death, with Thy mighty power Thou hast overthrown His strength: for Thou art life, and light, and resurrection.
O Theotokos,
Rejoice with Thee, O Lord, the double portion of Thy chosen, the race of our fathers, whom having received from Thee, they destroyed through their transgression: for Thou art the Double Portion, and before Thee was the corn-ear; and in the corn-ear wast Thou.
And from the bowels of Him:
Falling into spiritual deception, Adam, groaning and sighing, is crushed; hoping in the ancient confession of faith: but he rises by the union of the sanctifying Word, and by passionless suffering receives, for thus shall he be glorified, sitting with the Father and the Spirit.
O Theotokos,
Hidest not the Fount, O Unbeginning Parent, in its depths the Virgin's offspring is established, and where before without a Mother, without a Father, it was made incarnate by the Truth: this dread birth and ineffable.
And Irmos: Have mercy on us:
Servants of the Lord stand before Thy mystery, O heavenly, beholding with awe Thy ineffable Birth: for Thou didst become incarnate, both before the Incarnation and by the Incarnation.
Let Thy Word, begotten before the beginning of time, which Thou hast spoken, by Thine all-powerful will, bring forth from non-existence the无形力量的军队,使它们聚集于彼岸。
Be thou slain, O Enemy, by the fruit of Thy life-giving Incarnation, the blessed Gift of God: and let it be manifest, O Adversary, that we have been set at liberty from thy bonds. Therefore I cry: Break, O passions, the heart of my soul.
