Illumine with the brightness of Thy coming, O Christ, and enlighten by Thy light the ends of the world; may the hearts of the right-believing sing with the light of Thy divine understanding.

By Thy Word the world was made glad with the Gospel, and proclaiming my captivity to the free, Thou hast humbled the holder thereof by Thy naked appearing, O Lord, revealing it through a glorious rising up.

O Theotokos,

More humbly beseech thee, all-compassionate, do not despise: but receive, and carry within thy merciful heart, O Lord, even as to the one Most Gracious, for thou hast entreated me as thy intercessor.

And Irmos: God is the Saviour of the world:

Riches and depth of divine wisdom, O Lord! Receive our confession of thy wisdom, for thou hast delivered us from the cunning of wickedness: having suffered willingly through the weakness of the flesh, by thine own strength, thou didst raise to life the dead.

God the Son unites our flesh for His sake: and He is crucified, and He dieth: He is buried, and again He riseth: He ascends in glory with His own flesh, Jesus Christ: with Him cometh, and saveth them that serve Him with holiness.

O Theotokos,

Stávy stája duvo čtě, stáhy stágo rodilá yésy, vsekh ósvyatýčúchago Khrista iázbavítele. Témy tě́m tjáji crájitú, i vlczcú vsekh gákwa matrí zижdítelë tváře prápovědémy.

And Irmos: Enlightening with Thy beams:

Rejoice ye heavenly powers, seeing Him: men gather to rejoice with them: by your glorification, O Theotokos, twain become three, worthy of praise.

Let all tongues and thoughts move for the praise of the truly human glory, that two stand before with true singing, praising those who sing by faith the wonders.

Let the hymn of the all-wise and praise-worthy be sung, O Mother and Virgin: for it is meet that a temple of glory be praised, worthy of honor.
