O Soul/Spirit, being led captive by the enemy, groan in compunction and say:

Lord, Thou hast created man in Thine image and after Thy likeness; but through the deceit of the devil, man hath fallen into sin. Therefore, O Lord, have mercy on us.

For Thou art the Life, and all we are in Thee; and if any man keep Thy commandments, he liveth in Thee, and Thee in him: that through us Thou mayest be glorified in Thy Kingdom eternal. Amen.

O One, who knowest the weakness of all human creatures and mercifully didst imagine within me, by Thy power from on high, that I might cry to Thee: Enlivened Temple, Thou hast not uttered the unspeakable glory of Thine, O Lover of Mankind.

God Thy Son is nearer to me than my life, who hast pitied the fallen and raised him up, and hast deigned to come unto me of thine own will by thy being lifted up on the Cross, whereunto Thou didst cry out: O Lover of man, the Incarnate One hath not uttered the unspeakable glory of Thy majesty.

Life eternal, O my Soul, hast Thou given me, having been made man and having undergone weariness, forasmuch as God merciful didst suffer, entering into the breast of the mortal one with Thy Master, didst rend asunder the power of death, and in three days didst rise again, clothing me in incorruption.

O Theotokos,

God, having willed in the womb to dwell doubly, by the Holy Spirit, wast not assailed, for thou, O purified by the lawgiver Moses, wast more assailable by fire, yet didst receive the unendurable flame as a forerunner.

And Irmos: Before the ages from the Father:

Who, having taken the erring soul on His own shoulder and humbled it with a tree, cries to God: Thou hast raised up our horn, O Holy One, Thou art the Lord.

Exalted be the Pastor of the great abyss of hell, and with the Holy Angels we hymn Him with true and devout faith of heart, that we may serve aright.

O Theotokos,

Who from the Virgin's womb, without seed by the will of the Spirit, wast both born according to the flesh and didst preserve unspotted the two-fold nature, over all God, we cry with uplifted voice: Thou art the Lord.

And Irmos: Alone Knowing:

O cloud light and true, following the prophetic utterances: for behold, upon thee shall the Lord lay the Egyptian delusion, working it by his hand, and thereby enlighten them that serve.

Thou sealed icon truly prophetic and fount of grace, and door sealed named, O all-praised Virgin, writing to us the signs of thy stainless fame: wherefore didst thou keep thee in purity.
