1. Lord! You know better than I how it is necessary, and glory to You, Lord, that you have granted me, a sinner, to endure at least a little for my sins!
2. Lord! I have sinned a lot and am worthy of eternal torment, but You, out of Your boundless love, do not want me to suffer forever, and subject me to temporary punishment so that I come to my senses, repent and cope. How great is Your mercy! Increase my patience, grant me such grace that I will endure my illness complacently out of love for You! I would rather have my illness intensify than for it to stop and for me to begin sinning again and be subjected to eternal torment. Let my illness continue and intensify as You please, just deliver me from eternal torment!
When you feel that the illness is weakening and you are beginning to recover, then with all your soul pray to the Lord God, that upon returning you to health, He will deign to keep you from all sin and give you a firm memory of those feelings and thoughts that you had during your illness.
