O All-powerful Lord, God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and their seed righteous: Thou who didst create the heavens with all their beauty, and the earth with its loveliness, by Thy word Thou didst bind the deep in chains, and sealed it with Thine awesome and glorious name, before which all bow down and tremble at the sight of Thy great glory; yet we cannot endure Thine anger, which Thou dost pour out upon sinners.

O boundless and unfathomable is Thy mercy promised: for Thou art the Lord on high, full of compassion. Long-suffering and most merciful, Thou dost forgive the sins of men. O Lord, by Thy great goodness, Thou hast promised forgiveness and remission to those who repent unto Thee; and by Thy abundant grace, Thou hast appointed forgiveness for sinners for their salvation.

O Lord, Thou of might, didst not impose penance upon Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, who had not sinned against Thee. But Thou didst impose it upon me the sinner: for I have sinned more than the sands of the sea. My iniquities multiply, O Lord, my iniquities multiply; and I am not worthy to behold or see Thy lofty heaven from the multitude of my unrighteousnesses.

I was smitten with many iron fetters, whereby I could not lift up my head, and there is no weakness in me: for I have provoked Thine anger, and have done evil before Thee, not doing Thy will nor keeping Thy commandments. Now I humbly bend the knees of my heart, beseeching Thee for Thy goodness: for I have sinned, and I know my iniquities; but I pray Thee to strengthen me, O Lord, strengthen me, and do not destroy me with my iniquities.

Below in the abyss Thou hast kept watch over my soul, and judged me in the depths of the earth. For Thou art God, full of compassion for those who repent; and Thou didst show all Thy goodness upon me, for unworthy as I am, Thou hast saved me by Thine abundant mercy. I will praise Thee in the days of my life: for all power belongeth to Thee, O Lord, and Thy glory shall be for ever and ever, Amen.
