O All-powerful Lord, God, Father of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and seed of theirs righteous: Thou who didst create the heavens with all their beauty, and the earth with its loveliness; Thou who didst bind the sea by Thy word of command, and close up the abyss, and seal it with Thine awesome and glorious name, before which all bow down in fear, and tremble at the face of Thy power: for ever, O most glorious in Thy great beauty. We cannot endure Thine anger, which Thou dost pour out upon sinners.

O unmeasured and unfathomable mercy promised Thee: Thou art indeed exalted above, full of goodness. Long-suffering and exceedingly merciful, Thou dost forgive the sins of men. O Lord, by Thy great goodness, Thou didst promise repentance and remission to those who come unto Thee; and by Thy abundant grace, Thou hast appointed repentance for sinners for their salvation.

But Thou, O Lord, of strength, didst not impose repentance upon Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, who had not sinned against Thee. But Thou didst impose it upon me, the sinful one: for I have sinned more than the sands of the sea. My iniquities are multiplied, O Lord, my iniquities are multiplied: and I am not worthy to look upon or see the height of Thy heavenly majesty from the multitude of my unrighteousnesses.

I was wounded by many iron fetters, so that I could not lift up my head; and there is no weakening in me. For I have provoked Thine anger, and have done evil before Thee, not doing Thy will nor keeping Thy commandments. And now I bow the knee of my heart, beseeching Thee for Thy goodness: for I have sinned, I have sinned, and know my iniquities; but I pray Thee to strengthen me, O Lord, strengthen me, and do not destroy me with my iniquities.

Below in the abyss Thou hast kept watch over my soul, and judged me in the depths of the earth. For Thou art God, full of compassion for those who repent; and Thou didst show all Thy goodness upon me, because unworthy as I am, Thou didst save me by Thine abundant mercy. And I will praise Thee throughout my days: for all power belongeth to Thee, O Lord, and Thy glory shall be for ever and ever, Amen.
