Hear the prayer of the poor when he calleth upon thee, O Lord, and let his supplication come before thee.

For my days are consumed like smoke; and my bones are fired as a hearth in the day that thou dost visit me.

That my days are as smoke, and my bones have dried up like chaff.

My heart withered as a herb, for I had forgotten to eat my bread.

From the sound of my cry, my bone cleaveth to my flesh.

I watched, and became like a solitary sparrow upon the roof.

Mine enemies reproach me all the day, and they that are envious against me swear against me.

All day long my enemies reproached me, and they that hated me abused me for evil.

‹. Because I ate as if it were ashes bread, and with weeping my drink was drained.

From the face of thy wrath and thy fury, for thou didst lift up and cast me down.

But Thou, O Lord, dost endure for ever; and Thy remembrance unto all generations.

Thou, O Lord, dost abide for ever, and thy memorial in generation and generation.

For thou risest to show mercy on Sion, for the time of showing mercy has come.

So the servants of thy Lord have chosen the stones and the dust thereof to be pitied.

And all the nations shall fear the name of the Lord, and all the kings of the earth His glory.

That the Lord will build up Sion, and shall be seen in His glory.

He looked upon the prayer of the lowly and did not despise their petition.

Let this be written for a latter generation, and a people to be created shall praise the Lord.

That from his holy height the Lord lifted up His voice upon the earth and looked down.

To hear the sighing of the exiles, to release the sons of the slain.

To proclaim in Sion the Name of the Lord and His praise in Jerusalem.

When peoples are gathered together and kingdoms to serve the Lord.

I said to Him on the way of His power: declare to me the brevity of my days.

Let not me be led in the half of my days in generations of years.

At the beginning, O Lord, Thou didst found the earth; the heavens are the work of Thine hands.

But thou wilt endure, and they shall be as a garment worn out; and as a cloak taken off, thou wilt change them, and they will be changed.

Thou art the same, and thy years shall not fail.

The sons of thy servants shall dwell, and their seed be established for ever.
