Podľa jeho pokynov sa v obciach otvorili cirkevné školy, celkovo ich bolo viac ako 200; vznikali sirotince a kostoly. Bohatí darovali svoje prostriedky na zveľadenie kostolov, na nákup svätých kníh (ktoré svätec rozdával gramotným), závojov (ktorými obdarovával ženy, nabádal ich, aby chodili so zahalenou hlavou), ružencov a krížov (ktoré rozdával pospolitému ľudu). Keďže kostoly nemohli pojať každého, kto chcel počúvať múdreho kazateľa, svätý Kozmas s radou kňazov konal bdenia na poliach a námestiach, kde sa tisíce ľudí modlili za živých i mŕtvych a vzdelávali sa podľa jeho pokynov. A kdekoľvek sa svätý Kozmas zastavil a kázal svoju kázeň, vďační poslucháči postavili veľké drevené kríže, ktoré zostali navždy na pamiatku toho.
Svätý Kozmas, obdarený darom proroctva, predpovedal príchod telefónov, lietadiel a leteckých bombových útokov.
25-ročná apoštolská služba svätého Kozmu sa skončila mučeníctvom v auguste 1779 v Albánsku. Vo veku 65 rokov bol kvôli ohováraniu Židov vydaný Turkom a uškrtený.
Jeho telo hodili do rieky a o tri dni neskôr ho našiel kňaz Mark a pochovali ho neďaleko dediny Kalikontasi v kláštore Ardevuz pri vstupe do chrámu Preblahoslavenej Panny Márie. Následne boli častice relikvií svätého mučeníka prenesené na rôzne miesta na požehnanie.
Jeho kanonizáciu vykonal konštantínopolský patriarcha Athenagoras v roku 1961 a 24. august bol ustanovený ako pamätný deň.

Svätý Savva Krypetsky, Pskov († 1495, pamiatka 28. augusta)
Mních Savva z Krypetského bol tonsurovaný na hore Athos, odkiaľ prišiel do Pskova. Začal asketizovať na hore Snetnaja v kláštore Matky Božej pri Pskove, potom sa presťahoval na odľahlejšie miesto na rieke Tolva, do kláštora sv. Eufrosyna (15. mája). Nakoniec sa utiahol do úplného ticha v Krypetskej Ermitáži, 15 míľ od Tolvy, a usadil sa sám pri malom jazierku v nepreniknuteľnom lese. Jedlom pustovníka bol chlieb a voda a v stredu a piatok nejedol nič. Vo svojom pustovníckom živote veľa trpel od nečistých duchov, ale vždy ich porazil modlitbou. Po niekoľkých rokoch osamelého života sa k mníchovi Savvovi začali schádzať nadšenci púštneho života. Prosili ho, aby založil kláštor a postavil chrám na počesť apoštola Jána Teológa. Mních odmietol byť opátom kláštora a vedením poveril mnícha Cassiana. Mnohí z Pskova prichádzali k prísnemu starešinovi, ktorého uzdravoval a nabádal, ale od nikoho neprijímal dary.
Jedného dňa prišiel k svätcovi knieža Jaroslav Vasiljevič Obolensky z Pskova, ktorý často navštevoval kláštor, spolu so svojou chorou manželkou. Mních Savva mu poslal povedať: "Starší, hriešny Savva, ti hovorí, princ, nevstupuj s princeznou do kláštora; Máme tu také pravidlo - manželky by nemali vstupovať do kláštora: ak porušíš otcovo prikázanie, tvoja princezná sa neuzdraví." Princ požiadal o odpustenie, že z nevedomosti chcel porušiť listinu. Mních Savva spolu s bratmi vyšiel z brány a slúžil modlitbu. Princezná bola uzdravená. Na žiadosť kniežaťa v roku 1487 dostal Pskov listinu pozemkov pre kláštor.
Mních učil laikov zachovávať čistotu a pripomínal im apoštolský rozsudok nad poškvrniteľmi tela. Bohatým a sudcom povedal, aby sa nekŕmili na úkor chudobných a aby zachovávali pravdu. Všetkým často pripomínal, aby sa vyhýbali hádkam a nepriateľstvu, zachovali si lásku a pokoj a zhovievavosťou zakrývali chyby iných, aby aj nám bolo odpustené. V kláštore bol od začiatku zavedený prísny internátny systém. A potom, keď sa zhromaždilo dostatok bratov a prostriedkov, v cele svätca nebolo nič okrem dvoch ikon, plášťa a rohože, na ktorých si ľahol k odpočinku. Tej istej chudobe učil aj bratov. Mních im prikázal obrábať pôdu vlastnými rukami. Povedal: "Prečo nazývame starých askétov našimi otcami, keď nežijeme ich životy, ako by sa patrilo deťom. Boli to bezdomovci, žobráci, trávili čas v brlohoch, na púšti a pre Pána so všetkou pevnosťou podriadili svoje telo duchu, nepoznali odpočinku ani vo dne, ani v noci."
Milujme, deti, dobrého Pána, neprejavujme mu lásku len zvukmi a odevom, ale aj skutkami: vzájomnou láskou, slzami, pôstom, všetku zdržanlivosť, ako to robili starí otcovia.“
Vďačný princ postavil ku kláštoru most cez machy a močiare, dlhý 1400 siah. Po jeho smrti († 28. augusta 1495) mních Savva kláštor neopustil, ale mnohokrát poskytoval ochranu. Raz v noci sa ku kláštoru priblížili lupiči. Uvideli však pekného starca, ktorý im držiac v ruke prút hrozivo prikázal, aby činili pokánie. Nasledujúce ráno sa dozvedeli, že v kláštore žiadny taký starší nie je a uvedomili si, že je to samotný mních Savva. Vodca zbojníkov sa kajal u opáta a zostal žiť v kláštore.
Mních Savva bol vysoký, s bradou sivou ako sneh, okrúhlymi, hustými a nie príliš dlhými. V tejto podobe sa zjavil mníchovi Izaiášovi v polovici 16. storočia, čím naznačil, kde sa nachádzali jeho neporušiteľné relikvie. Potom, v roku 1555, na žiadosť bratov Krypetsk napísal pskovský kňaz Vasily život mnícha Savvu a bola pre neho založená oslava.

Mních Agapius bol žiakom tichého staršieho na hore Athos. Pôžička Agapius bol zajatý Turkami, pre ktorých pracoval 12 rokov. Matka Božia zázračne vyslobodila Agapia zo zajatia, ale prísny starejší mu prikázal vrátiť sa späť. Keď videl Agapiusovu vieru, jeho pán a jeho dvaja synovia uzavreli mier a nasledovali Agapia na Svätú horu Athos.
