Verbal litanies from the deacon, the priest secretly says this prayer:
Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, the True God, the source of life and immortality, light from light, who came into the world to enlighten it! Illuminate our thoughts with Your Holy Spirit, and accept us, who bring majesty and thanksgiving to You, about Your wondrous great actions from the ages, and even in the last centuries Your saving vision, in which we clothed ourselves in our weak and poor mixture, and descended to work measures, like the King of all, even with a slave hand in the Jordan You endured baptism, and having sanctified the watery nature, sinless one, gave us birth again by water and the Spirit, and arranged for our first liberation. Celebrating the remembrance of His Divine Sacrament, we pray to You, Lord, Lover of Mankind: sprinkle upon us, Thy unworthy servants, according to Your Divine promise, pure water, a gift of Thy mercy, so that over this water the petition of us sinners will be favorable to Thy goodness, and to Thy blessing upon us and all Thy faithful people. be granted, for the glory of Thy holy and worshiped name.
For all glory, honor and worship is due to You, with Your Originless Father, and Your Most Holy and Good and Life-Giving Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages.
And he said to himself: Amen, and as the deacon performed the litany, the priest began this prayer in a loud voice:
Great art thou, O Lord, and marvelous are thy works, and not one word will suffice for the singing of thy wonders [three times].
You, by will of those who do not exist, brought all things into being, by Your power you support creation, and by Your providence you build the world. You, a creature composed from the four elements, crowned the circle of summer with four times. All the powers of intelligence tremble to you: the sun sings to you, the moon praises you, the stars are present to you: the light listens to you, the abysses tremble to you, the springs work for you. You have stretched out the sky like a skin: You have established the earth on the waters: You have fenced the sea with sand: You have poured out the air with your breath. The angelic forces serve You, the faces of the archangels bow to You: the many-eyed cherubim and the six-crested seraphim, standing around and flying around, are covered with the fear of Your unapproachable glory. You, this indescribable God, without beginning and unspeakable, came to earth, taking on the form of a servant, becoming in the likeness of humanity: you did not, O Master, endure mercy for the sake of Your mercy, to see the human race tormented by the devil, but you came and saved us.
We confess grace, we preach mercy, we do not hide beneficence: you have freed the nature of our race, you have sanctified the virgin womb with Your Nativity: all creation sings praises to You who appeared. You are our God, you appeared on earth and lived with men: You sanctified the streams of the Jordan, sending down Your Holy Spirit from heaven, and you crushed the heads of the serpents nesting there.
And the priest said this three times, and blessed the water with his hand for each verse:
For Yourself, O Lover of Mankind, come now through the influx of Your Holy Spirit and sanctify this water.
And give her the grace of deliverance, the blessing of the Jordan: create with her the source of incorruption, the gift of sanctification, the resolution of sins, the healing of ailments, the destructive of demons, impregnable to resisting forces, filled with angelic strength: so that all who draw and partake of it may have it for the cleansing of souls and bodies, for the healing of passions, for the sanctification of houses, and for all benefit pretty much. For you are our God, who through water and the Spirit renewed our nature, which was promised by sin: You are our God, who drowned the sin of Noah with water: You are our God, who freed the Jewish race from the work of Pharaoh Moses by the sea: For you are our God, breaking up the stone in the desert, and flowing waters, and flooding streams, and thirsty people Thy satiate: Thou art our God, Who exchanged Elijah for Israel by water and fire from the deception of the Baal.
Even now, Master, sanctify this water with Your Holy Spirit [three times].
Grant to all who touch it and partake and anoint with it sanctification, health, cleansing and blessing.
And save, Lord, Thy servant, the most pious, the most autocratic, our great sovereign, Emperor Nikolai Alexandrovich of all Russia [three times].
And his wife, the most pious empress, Empress Alexandra Feodorovna.
And his mother, the most pious empress, Empress Maria Feodorovna.
His heir, the blessed sovereign Tsarevich and Grand Duke Alexy Nikolaevich, and the entire reigning house.
Save, O Lord, and have mercy on the most holy welcoming Synod.
And keep them under Thy roof in peace, subdue to them every enemy and adversary, grant them all the petitions for salvation and eternal life: and through the elements and men and angels, both visible and invisible, glorify Your most holy name, with the Father and the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages.
Priest: peace to all.
Lik: And to your spirit.
Deacon: Bow your heads to the Lord.
Lik: To you, Lord.
The priest bow down and pray:
Incline, O Lord, Thy ear, and hear us, who were willing to be baptized in the Jordan and sanctified the waters: and bless all of us, who by bowing our necks signify the working imagination: and grant us to be filled with Thy sanctification, these waters by communion: and may it be unto us, Lord, for the health of soul and body.
Proclamation
For You are our sanctification, and We send up glory and thanksgiving and worship to You, with Your Originless Father and Your Most Holy and Good and Life-giving Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages.
