Venerable Queen, chosen by the Eternal King, surpassing every created thing in heaven and on earth, who came sometimes to the Church of Vlahern with prayer, offering worthy veneration with thanksgiving, as in darkness beholding Thy shining censer through faith and compunction. Thou, having invincible power, deliver us from all our sorrows, that we may call Thee:

Archangel and multitude of angels, with the Forerunner, the Theologian, and all saints in likeness standing before Thee, O Queen, in the church of Vlahernestey, having heard Thy compunction for prayer concerning all the world with exceeding tenderness, with wonder they cried out thus:

Rejoice, O Theotokos, in the eternal well-will of God the Father without beginning.

Seeing Thee, O Holy Andrei with Epifanius in the church upon the air praying for Christians to God, knew that Thou art the Mother who hath uplifted Christ our God into heaven, and, falling to the earth, joyfully prostrated themselves before Thy all-blessed covering, crying: Alleluia.

O Theotokos, Virgin Most Pure, understanding not foolishness hast Thou, in the defense of the righteous people; therefore our enemies know not, how mighty is the prayer of God's Mother. We, knowing well the good from Thy all-powerful intercession, with compunction thus call upon Thee:

The might of the High One overshadoweth with faith and reverence those who flee unto Thy most holy covering: for by one point alone, O Most Holy and Most Pure Mother of God, was given that every petition of Thine be fulfilled. Therefore, every age of the faithful glorifieth Thee and Thy Son, crying out: Alleluia.

O Lady, in the tempest of many misfortunes Thou dost help us who are possessed; standing before the face of the Lord's altar, Thou hast raised up Thy hands and prayest that the Lord, the King of glory, might behold our unworthy prayer and hear the supplications of those calling upon Thy holy name, even as they call upon Thy Son: Alleluia.

Hearken, O Lord God Jesus Christ, when Thou didst pray and command the sun to stand until Thou hadst avenged Thine enemies. O Theotokos, Moses in the battle sometimes against Amalek, when his hand was raised, Israel prevailed; but when his hand was lowered, then Amalek prevailed. Supporting him, however, by his strength, he conquered the enemy. Thou also, O Mother of God, raising Thy hands in supplication, though unsupported, always conquerest the Christian enemies, and art our invincible shield, crying out: Alleluia.

O Most Pure Virgin, Mother of the Lord of heavenly powers, Queen of our city and country, all-powerful Intercessor! Receive this hymn of praise and thanksgiving from us, Thy unworthy servants, and lift up our prayers to the throne of God, Thy Son, that He may be merciful towards our unrighteousnesses and reveal His grace to them who reverently and in faith worship Thy most holy name and the wondrous image of Thee. For we are not worthy to receive mercy from Him, save Thou, O Queen, hast moved His heart with compassion for us: for all things are possible to Thee from Him. For this reason we flee to Thee as to our certain and speedy Intercessor: hear our prayers, O Mistress, and cover us with the shield of Thy power and beseech God, Thy Son, our Shepherd—zeal and watchfulness over souls; governors—wisdom and strength; judges—righteousness and uprightness; teachers—understanding and humility; spouses—love and agreement; children—obedience; those wronged—patience; those who wrong others—the fear of God; the sorrowful—goodwill; the joyful—temperance; all of us—spirit of understanding and piety, spirit of mercy and meekness, spirit of purity and righteousness. O Holy Theotokos, my Queen, my Hope, my Most Pure, my Helper in times of distress, my Protector from the foreign and stranger, my Sustainer in adversity and persecution, behold my tribulation, behold my sorrow: I am everywhere encompassed by temptation, and there is none to help me. Thou, however, O Thou Who art my Helper, take pity on me, being weak, guide me as a stranger, set me aright if I have wandered, heal me and save me, for I am without hope. For I have no other help nor intercession nor comfort except Thee, O Mother of all who suffer and are burdened!
