On the Sabbath at the Great Vespers

By Thy mercy, O Jesus Christ, Thou hast destroyed the power of death and made the devil's delusion a spectacle; and man's race is saved by faith: ever doth it sing to Thee.

Thou hast enlightened all created things by Thy resurrection, O Lord; and again the paradise hath been restored: all thy creatures praising thee, make their song always to be with thee.

I glorify the Lord and Saviour, and the Theotokos with power, and the holy Power of the Spirit, the unseparated, uncreated Divinity, the one in essence ruling for ever and ever.

We bow in honor of Thy holy Body, O Christ, and we sing Thy resurrection and glorify it: for by Thy early coming Thou hast healed us all.

We sing to Thee, O Saviour, from the double wonder of Thy Incarnation: for our sake Thou wast crucified, and on the third day didst rise again, granting unto us great mercy.

By very deed in hell descended was Jesus Christ: Rejoice, proclaiming, now have I prevailed, for I am the Risen One, I have raised thee up, having shattered the gates of death.

Worthy not being we who stand in thy most holy house, even this evening canticle do we send up to thee, calling with depths of heart:
O Lighten thou the world by thy three-day resurrection, O Lover of mankind, and turn men from the hands of thy enemies.

O Theotokos,

As we cannot marvel at Thy divine conception, O Ever-Virgin; for Thou didst not receive the blameless temptation of a man, and hast given birth without a husband, bringing forth a body before the ages from a husband born without a mother. Neither didst Thou undergo change nor mixture nor division, but preserved thy own substance entire. Therefore, O Lady, preserve our souls righteously confessing Thee.
