Before the Word of God was born of the Ever-Virgin, having been made incarnate from the Holy Spirit, come let us kneel and bow down: for He having endured, was delivered up to death by burial, as He Himself willed; and He rose again from the dead, saving me the wanderer among men.

Jesus Christ hath saved us, whom having crucified upon the cross by the hands of men, he held in the power of death for a little while: we glorify him in his three-day resurrection.

From the Archangel's hymn we take up the resurrection of Jesus Christ: for He is our Saviour and our salvation, and in His glory more terrible and stronger in power, again cometh to judge the world, which He created.

Thee, who wast proclaimed and buried, the Angel preached to Thee, saying to the women: Come, see where lay the Lord: for He is risen, as He said, being all-powerful. Therefore we prostrate ourselves before Thee, O Ever-living One: Life-giver of the dead, have mercy on us.

By Thy holy Passion, Thou hast abolished the ancient curse,
And by Thy deathly burial, Thou hast destroyed the power of death:
But by Thy resurrection, Thou hast enlightened the human race.
Therefore, we cry to Thee: O Gracious One, Jesus Christ, glory be to Thee.

Glory, and now, O Theotokos:

Having passed the appointed time, the grace hath come: even as the fig tree, not having shriven itself by withering, brought forth both fruit and leaf; instead of a pillar of fire, the righteous sun arose: instead of Moses, Jesus Christ, the salvation of our souls.
