Before the Word was born of the Father ever since the ages, and was made flesh from the Virgin's womb, come let us adore: for having endured, He was delivered up to death by burial, as He willed Himself; and He rose from the dead, and saved me, a wanderer in sin.
Jesus Christ hath saved us, whom having pierced with nails upon the cross for our transgressions, he held in the power of death; we glorify Him in His three-day resurrection.
From the Archangel's hymn we take up the resurrection of Jesus Christ: for He is our Saviour and our salvation, and in His glory more terrible and stronger in power, again cometh to judge the world, which He created.
Thee, who wast laid in the tomb and didst rise again, O Angel proclaimed to the women, saying: Come, see where He lay; for He is risen, as He said, being all-powerful. Therefore we prostrate ourselves before Thee, the only Immortal: Life-giving Jesus, have mercy on us.
By Thy holy Passion, Thou hast abolished the ancient curse of oaks; by Thy deathly burial, Thou hast destroyed the power of death: by Thy resurrection, Thou hast enlightened the human race. Therefore we cry to Thee: O Gracious Lord Jesus Christ, glory be to Thee.
Hast Thou opened to me, O Lord, the doors of death by fear; and having seen the gates of hell, Thou didst fear: for Thou hast crushed the brazen doors, and smitten the iron bars, and led us forth from darkness and the chambers of death, and rent asunder our bonds.
Glory, and honour, now, to the Theotokos:
Having passed the appointed time, the grace hath come: even as the fig tree, not having withered, bore both fruit and leaves; instead of a pillar of fire, the righteous sun arose: instead of Moses, Jesus Christ, the salvation of our souls.
