O Soul/Spirit, being led captive by the adversary, groan in compunction and tenderness of heart, for thou art a stranger in this world; and let not thy hope be in vain things, but in Him who is the Creator of all. For He hath given thee authority over many works, that through them thou mightest attain unto life eternal. Therefore, with fear and trembling, serve Him who is mighty and merciful, that thou mayst receive from His hand the crown of righteousness. Amen.

The bottomless pit of sins hath overthrown me, and my spirit is vanished: but stretch Thou forth Thy high might, O Master, as a rock to uphold me.

Infinite depth of mercy and goodness hath encompassed me, O Merciful One: having taken flesh, Thou didst abide in lowliness, and by Thy obedience Thou didst redeem the image, glorifying it with Thee.

Death, O Death, wherein thou hast been slain, behold the things that have been made alive by thy resurrection: these are Thy images, and by Thy victory hath triumphed over thee.

O Theotokos,

Praying, where Thou alone, Creator and Man, hast come forth, O Lord, by Thy own will having fallen into transgression, Thine servants, beseech Thee to be our adversary.

And He

Irimos: Selēninya.

By dawn thou didst tempt, O Incarnate One, the dwellers of hell; with Thy stripes Thou didst raise to life those who were dead. Wherefore I cry to Thee: Exalt me from the depths of my life, O Lover of Mankind.

Thou dost open the gates of fear, O Jesus Christ, while the vessels of the enemies are lifted up: therefore those women met Thee, receiving joy instead of sorrow.

And Thee.

This hymn of the same.

It is imagined concerning us, O God, that from immortal things, having the unseparable image of the Fainthearted One, having become a thing of nought, man did not yield to the deceit.

O Lord, and Thou Sea of Sins, and Storms of Passions, save me: for Thou art a Refuge, and Sea of Wonders, to those who come to Thee with Faith.
