Irimos:

By life alone we are saved,
And by death we perish;
For life is from Thee, O Lord,
And death is to us a stranger.

Through death Thou didst destrate
The power of him who held fast
The key of Death, and didst set free
Those in Hades bound by the chains of corruption.
Therefore, glorify Thy mighty one,
Who vanquished the enemy with the weapon of His Cross.

Pray for us, O Lord, and for all men Thou hast become the Theotokos: by Thee, Master, in the night unknown to Thy servant, didst Thou bring him into the presence of thy glorious Father.

As the cedars are glorified,
so hath the wind shaken down thy pride with power:
for as thou willedst upon the cypress,
and upon the pine,
and upon the cedar,
to be exalted in planks.

In the grave, O Lord, Thou hast laid the lifeless dead: but by Thy Name Thou hast awakened the dead, who sleep in their graves, and didst raise them with Thee.

O Theotokos,

Pray to Thee, O Lord, and to Thy Holy One, both of them reading, for peace to be given to those who hope in Thee, deliverance to the captives, from the obstinate resistances.

And He

Irimos:

By life alone we are saved,
And by death destroyed;
For death came to us through a stranger,
But by One from our own creation.

Through Him who is the Life,
Let us cry to our God:
Glory, power, and honour!

For by His death He destroyed death,
And by His resurrection He raised up life.
To the Father, together with the Son
And the Holy Spirit, in glory ever.

Amen.

Adam hath comprehended the fall, tasting the deadly fruit first: but the sin consumeth, causing the second death.

By the nature of man he was passions and mortal, but the Unpassionate by divine immortality, O Theotokos, from the depths of hell did raise Him.

And Thee.

This hymn of the same.

Bless with the sweet savour of thy mercy the earth: for thou hast deigned to be born of the Virgin before the ages, O God.

By life and by my flesh Thou hast enlightened me, and Thou hast broken the drudgery of sin: in the end Thou didst descend without seed from above.
