By the hymnography of the penitential season, the first tone is sung:
Thy grave, O Warrior watchful, was kept by the dead who from the rising of the morning were angels, proclaiming to the women the Resurrection. We glorify Thee, O Thou who art sought after in need; we fall down before Thee, O Risen from the grave, and with Thy only God.

To the Kiss of Thy Passion Thou wast fastened by a generous will, laid in the grave having been found dead, O Life-giver, overcome by the strength of Thine own death: for the gates of hell trembled at Thee, Thou didst raise up from the age of the dead, as the only Lover of Mankind.

O Theotokos,

The Theotokos, our All-holy Queen, truly is the refuge of all in very truth, and having received us by her intercessions, and having taken us to her merciful bosom: for thou, O Lover of sinners, hast been my advocate before thy Divine Majesty in times of tribulation, and hast granted me the salvation of the one unspotted Virgin.

By the sticheral tones, the lesson, tone 1.

Likewise: Stones Sealed:

Widows to the grave came with sorrow, and an angelic trembling they beheld: the grave is life, a wonder to marvel at: for this sake, having gone forth with the teaching of the prophets, there arose: hell delivered up the Theotokos in chains, for it is strong and mighty, and having been weakened, all were raised, fear being shattered by the sword.

At thy crucifixion, O Life of all life, thou wast nailed fast, and in the dead thou didst enter as the immortal Lord; on the third day thou didst rise again for our salvation, raising Adam from corruption. For this we cry to thee with mighty voice, O Giver of Life, Thee who art Jesus Christ: Glory to thy resurrection, glory to thy descent, only Lover of mankind.

Theotokos. It is fitting: Thy grave hath saved us.

Blessed be the Reader, O Master of Readers, who hath raised up unto life them that had fallen into the deep pit of fierce wrath and excessive grief; for thou art, O Lord, the forgiveness of sinners and help in time of trouble, the strong intercession, and deliverest thy servants.

Alas, the voice of weeping,
Gladsome is not my song.

Thief's repentance in paradise joy, weep thou myrrh-bearer gladness proclaim, for having risen Thou O Christ hast brought the Theotokos life giving mercy.

When sorrow hath troubled me, hear my sickness, O Lord; to Thee do I call.

The desert-dweller hath an unceasing holy desire, bringing peace to the sensible apart from the senseless.

Glory and praise to Thee, O Spirit, as is meet, and to Thy Mother also, for this we sing the hymn of unity.

Antiphon v.:

Upon thy mountains, O Lord, thou hast ascended me with thy laws; by thy virtues thou hast enlightened the Theotokos; and I will sing thee.

By Thy right hand, receive my words, preserve me, keep me, that the fire of sin may not fall upon me.

By Thee, O Spirit, every creature is renewed, again flowing back to the first: for Thou art equal in power and word with the Father.

Antiphon gá:

O Lord, having said to me, "Enter into the courts of My people," my spirit rejoiceth, and my heart gladdeneth.

In the house of the double doors great fear: there, in the judgment seat placed, all nations and tongues are judged.

Glory, honor, worship, and might to the Spirit, as is meet for God, and ever fitting to offer: for there is but one essence, but not persons.
